  1. Yes, to the right. The yahoo front and center is Drucifer himself.
  2. Weather looks to be good this week, though it looks like I will be cragging at Donner Summit instead of Tenino this Wednesday. Ya'll should come on out and have fun, I'll see you the following week.
  3. On a more serious note, where can I go to get certified as a wanker? It would seem there must be some sort of online course I could sign up for somewhere on this board.
  4. Sorry, poorly phrased on my part. Yes, anything newly exposed will be pretty clean, but since I've never been there I was curious to know if anyone has a clue if there are potential crags that are currently submerged, which are likely to be of interest precisely because they will be pre-cleaned.
  5. Sounds like the Elwah dams are coming down for sure, agreement was just reached. I think it may not be until 2008 though. Question is, will it expose any new crags that will be vegetation free?
  6. It doesn't strike me that being described as the "Donald Trump of Orange County's Little Saigon" is much of a character reference, and I doubt that Mr. Jao speaks for his race anymore that I speak for mine. Hey, I know a pro-life anti-gay-marriage rural dwelling firefighter who voted for Bush the first time and is supporting Kerry this time, but I don't think it says anything about the entire population of his pigeonhole.
  7. Has anyone been able to find anyone who will admit to being a former CO of Bush, much less anyone who could even comment on his service? What's Bush's greatest claim to fame of his "military" service, that he could charm the ladies at some southern senator's re-election campaign headquarters?
  8. Slab is all a mind game anyway. If you truly believe you can stand there, it doesn't matter what is on your feet. Voodoo Child 5.11a on Mt. Lemmon was put up in Robbins blue boots.
  9. No CJ, they don't have to work for it, they achieved it by being born.
  10. Whaddyu mean Natty, did his momma serve and he was there in egg form? BP's a lot of things, and one of them is too young for Vietnam.
  11. No Dru, you're just another white suburban middle class punk like me.
  12. Greg, back to work you weak poodle-arsed slumgullion, booths 7 through 29 still need cleaning, and I don't want to hear any more whining about sores on your tongue. No wonder you're underemployed.
  13. "Now honey, I'm sure I heard a cough. Here, just a little of this will help..."
  14. In 1980 getting busted for two oz in the mail from the states resulted in two hours in jail, being released on your own recognizance (you wouldn't want to be in jail for the long weekend, eh?) and a hundred dollar fine, along with advice from the Edmonton cops on where to go to score some weed locally. However, it's enough to prevent entry since the crime is now considered a felony (wasn't at the time of conviction) and I can no longer get my best partner to go to Canada for climbing or snowboarding. Shoplifting cheese from the store in Yosemite in 1975 (a felony!) caused another friend similar problems until he went the customs route and proved that he had successfully rehabilitated himself from a life of dairy product skullduggery.
  15. Go adopt a cat, Dru
  16. 3:10 pm update: The ground and shrubbery is wet, but the rock feels dry, and I don't think it's taken on enough water to weaken the sandstone. At this point I'm going to give things a tentative thumbs up.
  17. It's started to rain. Check back a little later and we'll see if it keeps up or dries off.
  18. Temperatures look to be lovely this evening, and the climbing should be prime. We opened up a new moderate 5.10 a couple weeks ago too, now sporting a couple of those six inch long 5/8" bolts for an anchor too.
  19. Generally, I like 'em, but I can never find the damn things. Just not driven I guess, other things on my mind when I'm up there.
  20. Hmm, something in the Middle Fork? Putting up routes on a public crag does not give you any power over it or special rights to controlling information. You should just post up the location beta. You should be able to confirm it's wilderness status without alerting the tool, but if it's wilderness those folks should STOP or start drilling by hand.
  21. Going in to the Douglas via Easy Pass? It's not too bad a trip, head down Fischer Creek until you're near the stream coming out of the Douglas Glacier cirque. Cross Fischer Creek, stay on the left side of the DG cirque stream. It gets slowly more dense until you come out into a basin below a first headwall. Basin is alder filled, but not too bad. Make for a bear trail just left of the waterfall (avoid the slope right of the waterfall - horizontal slide alder hell) which leads steeply into the next basin. To get up the next headwall, take a brushy ramp that runs up and right from right of center, will get you up to the snow directly below thunder peak in a non-technical outing, and probably no harder than BW-2+. Heading around left around the big buttress on Thunder gets you onto the Douglas Glacier, and voila!
  22. Ed, you ignorant slut. Tahquitz and Suicide are not bastions of rap bolting. On the otherhand, I don't think there are too many new lines worth squeezing in there either.
  23. The Scar by China Mieville, which I'm only just starting, looks to be awesome, in a Gene Wolfe wierd world kind of way. Mostly set at sea, a bonus for you, eh Lummox? In terms of Tim O'Brien, I really liked The Things They Carried. It had an awesome way of speaking so realisticly in the first person, you believed it was non-fiction. O'Brien would periodically pierce the veil to remind you it was fiction, and damned if by the next story you didn't buy right back into it. One of the better Vietnam books I've read.

    burning CDs

I must lead a charmed life. I use cheap cd's from Costco, Nero software, and either a Sony or Lite-on burner running at 52x and almost never have a failure. Gotta do some other shennanigans for the copy protected stuff though, that often involves making a coaster or two.
