  1. don't the christian-ites engage in ritual cannibalism too?
  2. not that i approve of it necessarily, but the islamic approach does seem to yield effective results, no?
  3. I typed "Ruby's Cafe" I think. yeah, so did i, and set the years back to 5 and the forum to rock climbing - i guess i didn't capitalize the frak'n letters though...
  4. maybe talk to the friends of tilly jane group? i think winter's on it, and he's active on the board. perhaps somebody brought it down w/ the intention of getting it back to you? did any of it have your names or numbers on it? hope it finds its way back to you - my picket that you bootied doesn't exactly offset the current deficit!
  5. goddamn the search engine sucks! i searched for this thread a bunch of different ways and never found it - maybe i suck too...
  6. ha-ha, but it sounds like there's less to bitch about, no? there are still plenty of other places right there to climb that aren't effected and the ban itself doesn't necessarily last 6 months or prohibit the reopening of areas that are uneffected (the uber-popular se corner and young warriors routes at beacon, for example, go nowhere frak'n near the peregrin nest on big ledge). also, and not to knock tieton too much, it's just not nearly as cool a place as beacon, so its harder to get worked up over any of it being closed.
  7. that's alright i reckon, but you pretty much need to have series of shots for it to convey the idea - wasn't there a thread last year about some giant fall at red rocks or indian creek? dude decked in it - i think there werea lot of stills in it too.
  8. no pix, but i could tape record a good version of the sound i made when i took my Huge Whipper this weekend saw your stuff still hanging there john - glad you didnt' add insult to injury by crashing all the way back down to the ground and getting 3 billion shards of ancient coke bottles embedded in your flesh!
  9. wayne wallace on this site is your boy if'n its the black spider you meant
  10. but a single brick in the much larger, "you have no rights" wall
  11. i think my favorite bad-weather climb of the s side was when it was in the teens in the parking lot, winds near 50 mph at the summit, and i wore my 8000-meter-down-to-my-sasquatch-knees-mega-parka the whole day, in addition to goretex parka, fleece sweater, expedition underwear, balaclava, hat, goggles, down mitts, etc. like being inside a space-ship - very trippy!
  12. they caught about 50% of the booze i sent my brother, even though i strategically put it into mouthwash bottles - maybe they didnt' think a simple soldier needs 120 oz of listerine?
  13. you may have done it before, but if you haven't, just summiting via the s side, solo, in a full-on gale is a pretty stimulating experience
  14. "wise king, do not grieve - for everyone one of us, living in this world means waiting for our end - let he who can achieve glory before death - when a warrior is gone, that will be his best and only bulwark" - Beowulf
  15. beautiful day at beacon 2day - rapped down to big ledge w/ joe and pimped out the scrape - wonder if they'll apreciate the 2000 frak'n tons of pea gravel the wildlife guy thought they would? reminded me how i need to always rap w/ big weight off my back - holy fawk! rancho relaxo's fun to climb up to as well plaiddude - tomorrow it'll be plenty dry enough - using the old-skewl original via ferrata appartus alone makes it worthwhile
  16. last time i was in the back of an ambulance i seem to recall calling the tech dude "bartender" and having so much morphine i turned into my mother in law, all sentimental and blubbery!
  17. I disagree. I think that the tea only helps pass the time and perhaps makes the injured feel more comfortable. From a physiological standpoint it isn't going to change the temperature in any noticeable way; it is like adding a cup of hot water to 20 gallons of lukewarm water(no effective temp change). You would be better off carrying handwarmers or a Sam splint whaaaa? i've done climbs on hood where it was so cold and windy the only way i could stop for more than a minute was by sipping boiling hot tea. the psychological effect alone is invaluable, but then you might well be a harder man than me
