  3. I've only been climbing in the Tetons in the summer, so I have no advice there. However, I would consider using your miles to fly someplace warm and sunny for a midwinter break (Red Rocks, Joshua Tree, Arizona) and just drive to the alpine destinations (Canmore, Bozeman, Jackson, Mazama, etc). Just an idea.
  4. Hey Bug, I've got at least one rope you can have.

  6. Dave, dave, dave.... very disappointed in you for not having your Arc'teryx model names memorized. The pants you (and I) have are the GAMMA LT, and I agree, they are the best climbing pants I've ever owned. I mostly wear them for alpine stuff. For cragging I pretty much wear whatever, but something with a gussetted crotch and tough fabric is nice. I have some Arc'teryx Gamut pants that are really good and those Gramicci pants aren't bad (though they are a little dorky). I think Carhartts are too stiff and restrictive for climbing; high steps and stems tend to be a pain in the ass, well, crotch actually, in them.

  8. Gun freak.
  9. I've been to 20K with no problems. I think that was about 1 year out from my surgery. LINK

  14. I have a vast library of photos (both incriminating and otherwise) that I keep on hand for just this sort of occasion (and the occasional blackmail scheme). The pic I have of you in that hot tub we poached in the Methow would probably get some of the ladies on here hawt and bothered. Lemme know if you want me to post it with your phone number.
  15. What are the dates? How many people you got so far? What kinda rig?
  16. buncha pansy losers. Highest casualties (% wise) in the US army during WWII. Thatz what you get for training a bunch of climbers to do a man's work.
  17. Still plenty of day left.
  18. Anybody interested in going to Index tomorrow? I'd like to do Stunn... er. ahem. Excuse me. Cunning Stunt, Zoom, Even Steven, etc. I can lead those. If you can lead them, I'd love to follow Heaven's Gate, full Jap Gardens, other stuff. I live in North Seattle. I'll check on this post in the AM. Send me a PM.
  19. Selkirk, the start to Zcrack is not unprotectable. Evidence: I saw no tape at the base of Deb's crack last weekend, nor did I feel the need for tape. YMMV.
  20. It's not too bad to get to the Zcrack anchor from the top of Meatgrinder. Just stay on belay from the MG anchor and traverse on that ledge. Probably easiest if you haul up a second rope and use that to set up the Zcrack TR. You could probably get there from the scramble up the right side of the formation, but I think that would be kinda sketchy and you would want a belay from the top of the formation to get to the Zcrack anchors. That might work. I've never tried it. I used to think Zcrack would be a sketchy lead, but I TRed it last weekend and the gear opporunities looked a lot better than I had remembered from previous laps. I'll just lead it next time. Z-crack is OK, but I'd recommend toproping Deb's crack instead (or also). It's slightly harder (10d), but is more sustained and has a bunch of different style crack climbing compressed into a small package. VERY easy to set up a TR. You can also try to TR the 11b (yeah right) ZigZag crack next to it. It's impossible.
  21. badum CHING!
