  3. South and South East faces are open until February 1st. East face remains closed. There is a $5 parking fee with a self pay station somewhere nearby.

    HEMPFEST

I went to one in Boston in '98 maybe. Ugly scene, lots of schwagg and thumbheads. The cops did not look the other way. Tired old stoned hippies ranting and ranting and ranting. Good laugh.

    Lance Armstrong

Yup, kudos to the team. Heras and Rubiera kicked ass in the hills. Made it an easy year for Lance. Prize money for all categories is awarded to the rider but goes to the team.
  8. Ok, I'm sure to get all kinds of differing opinions on this one, but I need some advice on picking up some cams to add to my fledgling trad rack of BD stoppers and miscellanious tricams. I'm new to placing pro and am starting to get decent with placing the stoppers, but I feel somewhat limited in many situations, namely larger and parallel cracks. Any thoughts on Rock Empire Robot Cams? They seem to be cheaper. Or should I stick with Metolious or BD and get fewer? Advice on sizes that are most versatile? Thanks.
  9. Wouldn't someone who is modest be understating their abilities? Not sure what that has to do with it, except to help keep you from going over your head with a new partner? Seems that if you are climbing with someone for the first time, in a dangerous situation where serious injuries could happen if there's a f**k up (multi-pitch, trad vs TR), then honesty is of paramount importance. Talk about experience and motivation before things get sketch. I get pretty pissed whenever someone fronts abilities they don't have in any discipline - in one where I could get killed especially. That said, I'd love to work on my 5.7 trad leads, 'cause right now I suck. Honestly. Any takers?
  10. Herb always makes me hungry when I need it, at altitude or at 2am.
  11. There's actually some sweet climbing there, I hear...

What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW? The porcupine has the pricks on the outside...
  13. Lance rocks my world.
  14. btw, there was a biner on each chain, then a biner backing up each - to another link in the chain - huh? and it was probably set from the top, that's how i got to them.
  15. Ok, new to the game, just trying to pick up some climbing karma. They're mine, now, all mine ha ha ha ha, y'all piss off.
  16. Four, still attached to the chains.
  17. A good college friend who is diabetic and I used to take some longer backpacking trips during the summer. He is pretty religious about checking blood sugar levels and good with food preperation and really had no troubles, save for keeping the insulin cold. On one longer trip he used some sort of flexible freezer pack that he cooled in a stream whenever available, seemed to work ok, in a colder setting this might not be an issue.
  18. Mt Washington NH via the Great Gulf. It was so steep I had to use my hands, gasp!
  19. Hypothetical situation - there are bolts where they should not be, and the hangers are easily removed. Now what? Does the bolt head get yanked with a crowbar? Or cut off? Best way to fill in the hole? I can't seemt to find the past threads with this info, thanks.
  20. Alas, was kickin' it on the beach in the Olympics with the so. Sorry I missed ya, next time!
  21. For the chutes, park at Morrison Creek and head up to treeline from there. Stay right of the Avalanche glacier and the chute is pretty obvious running up to just left of Piker's Peak, with several small chutes funneling into a large on below. It's a good sustained 35 degrees for a couple thousand vertical. Alternatively, slog up the road to Cold Springs then up the South spur with the other people. Road conditions at http://svinet2.fs.fed.us/gpnf/recreation2002/current/mount-adams-climbing-report.shtml Fun ski, enjoy.

Censure is different than everyone flaming you because you're an asshole.
  24. Ha! I brought an old lady to tears chewing her out once when I got cut off the same way...
