Wow. Burning Man is $250 a head? I find this very very funny...

Expect people. Lots of people. Can be done in one push (7K?), but the camp at Lunch Counter can be really beautiful in the right conditions so I'd recomend it if you have the time. This time of year there's lots of rock so you could probably get by sans spikes and axe. Have fun.

"where there are V1's I can't deal with and V3's I dispatched in a few tries. Ratings seem way less consistent than yds stuff." I also think it's easier to be consistant with a rating the longer the route is. Boulder problems are short and try to focus on a few key moves that involve a speciffic technique (if it is a good problem), and sometimes this comes easier or harder depending on a lot of factors - how tall you are, how short you are, how you are at sidepulls, etc. Longer routes seem to have multple ways around cruxes and stuff and you can often use a variety of techniques. Also, for what it's worth, FOTH tries to match V ratings to the YDS, don't recall the mapping.

They got you, my friend. Looks like at least someone's paying attention to how people speak with their pocketbooks...

I would assume that those causing the real trouble were in the minority, as is often the case (WTO?). Sucks for those making a statement by protesting peacefully (Erik, I think this is 'doing' something, it's being heard and getting a viewpoint out to many people). Peaceful demonstration has brought about a lot of possitive change in our country's history, and of that I am proud. As for those asses who take a different approach - bricks, tagging, etc., whatever, lock 'em up, spray 'em down. But I'm only saying that because they ruin anything and everything gained by demonstration. Oh well.

It's a helluva fun way to spend NYE... Besides very NYE show I've seen was more an excuse to get a raging crew together in the city; the show was gravy. Mmmm gravy. So I guess I'm sad and my devotion is pathetic No, I won't make it this year as I no longer live on the right coast.

How about Oysterhead - Trey and Les! Now we're rockin'!

Or better, has anbyone seen the new national park tv adds? It flashes through scenes from beautiful campsites at various parks along with prices on the bottom - $16, $24, etc.... Oy.

I don't follow them around the country or deam them geniouses, but there's something to be said for having fun and trying different things (if you think its all tedious interludes and polka beats you're not listening very closely). Fishman farting? No thanks. The fans are quite critical. There's been plenty of crap for sure, and it simply falls off the rotation. Ahhh, whatever. Face it Iain, you just don't like dirty hippies.

Ah, New Years Phish again in NYC, I can beathe.

I enjoy watching others send routes that I cannot. I learn and take inspiration.
