  1. Very nice, I see what looks like someone on 'walk on the wild side' in the background of the headstone picture.
  2. 5 minute drive, thirty minute walk. I'd measure too far to regularly drive at 30 mins.
  3. I've had plenty of overuse injuries, its key for me to stop doing the things that hurt and even the things that just tweak it a little bit. Hope its nothing serious and you get well soon.
  4. Money for nothing? Why not? Is he embarassed? More than likely. I'm sure all of the interview that we'd be interested in got chopped. Maybe he can get on AOTS next and make some real dough!
  5. Dividing posts by TRs is how I generally weight peoples opinions. And isn't it thanks for all the fish?
  6. Ok I guess I understand the OP's question now, does the effective shortening of the rope from the friction raise the forces on the last piece more than the lessening of forces due to the impact being drawn out over a slightly longer period of time. Hopefully some college kid can get his masters degree figuring this thing out for us.
  7. I think you may want to rethink this. I don't think the speed of your fall is affected by the rope at all until you begin to weight your last piece. Once you begin to weight the last piece it seems like the friction would spread the force of the fall over a longer period of time - a good thing unless the extra drag is what caused you to peel in the first place.
  8. I was smoking crack and worshipping Satan. You're gonna judge my weekend entertainment choices now? Pictures pls
  9. A bit south and east, Mt Wa.
  10. I was here. Where were you?
  11. Yeah we were just done with Headless and getting ready to go up Equinimity when it came down. It landed pretty near the base of PA and left some scars on the John Galt Line. Some fellow washingtonians were on the other side from us and said they saw some fragments spraying their way. I'm glad noone was under it, it wouldn't have been pretty.
  12. With a slight breeze and a few shots of sun MG wall at Smith takes about 90 minutes. The real question is will Ivan apologize to his kids if he scores some presents today?
  13. Did the famous Tenino rain shadow effect protect the wall Off? Any chance at all?
  14. Yes x 3 and I dunno about the terrible traverse as I've never done it with snow. It was easier than contouring high all the way round above it. There is a lot of 3rd class in the last 1/2 mile to the summit.
  15. I was hoping you'd get a response, I haven't been up that way since it burnt last year. My friend Wes thought the trail up to Lake Constance would most likely be a mess. Maybe I'll see ya up there tomorrow as I'll most likely go have a look.
  16. Took this pic sunday from Ellinor, you can see the S Brother fairly clearly towards the right and barely make out Constance and Inner Constance thru the smoke a bit to the left.
  17. Heard something about this from a reliable source, wheres the TR?
  18. More like 30-40 min uphill after an easy mile on the trail. Maybe like lil Si.
  19. I doubt it could be any worse. You'd want to traverse the ridge a couple miles and drop straight down into it. maybe someones hiked Wagonwheel and then went up to the ridge?
  20. Trip: Mt Lincoln - route 2 Date: 8/21/2011 Trip Report: After attempting Mt Lincoln by route 3 a while back in poor visibility (at one point I was 150' from the summit but could not see it) and bushwacking down a creek back to the Skokomish trail I decided to do the smart thing and go up the class 2 route so I'd know the "easy" way down for future outings. The day started well, hiking up the Skokomish trail a few miles to an unmarked offshoot up by the Beaver burn. This trail was nice enough to begin with but it has obviously not been maintained for quite awhile. Still it was a trail and moved upwards so I was content to hop the occassional log and beat my way thru 10' tall seedlings to continue. After a mile or so the trail disappeared in a gully with nasty little slide. A quick break for sunscreen and drink then I decided to head up where ever it looked easy and hopefully regain the trail higher up. While I never did find a human trail, after a bit of suffering and many logs and slides the route became obvious, following a broad ridge, winding through pillow lava towers and finally hitting a mini plateau with my goal at the far end. I was feeling very tired at this point but the seeming nearness of the summit lured me onwards. 30 minutes later I picked out a nice little bouldery route up to the top. I began to review my descent options. Mildred lakes were very close but a long way to my truck that way. Back whence I came but the idea of swimming over all those logs and sliding down those slides was not appealing. Dropping down toward Mildred lakes and finding a way over to Gladys divide almost got my vote, maybe next time? Back down route 3 seemed a bit more feasible although the 80' of 3rd class up to the ridge was enough to make me not want descend that way the last time and its 8 miles from Flapjack lakes to the truck so that left the bushwhack that I didn't care for last week as my "best" option. With the horrible visibility the last time I blindly followed the creek into all sorts of bad places and some extra distance. So being able to see saved me a lot of effort and knowing to keep bearing right made it "better". Stumbled by great little crag with bullet hard rock, no moss to speak of and 20' of overhang in 50'. I'll never find it again but I'd be happy to steer someone in the right direction. Hit the Skok trail 1 mile from the parking lot and got to my truck after a great 10 hr day. That hour in the middle really made it all worthwhile, the best dog route I've done by far. the trail the towers the summit view the wildlife back along the route me n lake cushman Mildred lakes Mirror image Chain Reaction
  21. Haven't been all the way to Mildred lakes in years but its up and down and up and down. There just isn't any easy way into that corner of the park. The roads got a couple of semi-navigible washouts about a mile before the putvin trail, no prob with a 4wd I'm sure.
  22. I'm not too sure, it rained pretty good but its had some time to dry out. I'll bet its mostly dry with seeps up high on some routes. If I make it out I'll be late, I've got trusses to hang tomorrow. Found this little crag on sunday, looks too hard for ya Jibster.
