snug, i hear ya! i've had so many bad haircuts that i mostly cut my own anymore. i probably go to a professional hairstylist on average about every 2 years or so. i've never tried the mayo thing but my sister used to rinse her hair with beer all the time. (never tried that either but i've got some beer in my fridge that i'll never drink so maybe i'll give it a try some time.) usually when my hair gets to the point that the damage is bugging me i cut the really bad ends off and it feels much better. repeat process over time until damage has grown out ... not all shampoo products are the same, but you can definitely buy "products" at qfc (or wheverever) that work just as well as the more expensive salon stuff. on a personal note, i find that the avalon shampoos work pretty well and aren't very harsh ...

i think it's a fairly "worthy" thing no matter where the dude's from ...

speaking of reality shows, i'm hooked on the contender. it's really the only show i make a point of watching every week. good end to the weekend.

i use a verizon prepaid plan where i pay .25/call plus .10/minute. it works fine if you don't talk much, but i noticed that they recently changed their "plan" and now charge a daily use fee of 1.00 even if you don't use it (and that's not counting the per minute charge) ... so it's not such a great deal if you're coming on now and aren't grandfathered under the older plan. but i would guess there are still other prepaid plans that are cheaper for limited use that might work for you.

fixed gear that isn't meant to be fixed is generally free-for-all.

they sell mead at bottleworks over on 45th - don't know what company makes it, though. www.gotmead.com says larry's market sells it as well, but i haven't looked there. i bet home-made mead is TASTY!!!

i use a 70m rope for most of my rock-climbing endeavors and know a number of other people who do - although they all live in the slc area. i have mainly used it for cragging and multi-pitch day routes. (i have used it for ice climbing in the past, but i have since acquired 60m half ropes that i prefer to use for that purpose.) you really don't NEED a 70m rope, but sometimes it is a very nice thing to have around (like what jason said above about being able to rap 35m pitches without having to have 2 ropes, as well being able to link pitches of that length when leading multi-pitch routes). when i replace it, it will be with another 70m rope. my partners usually have 60m ropes that we can use if we're doing really short stuff.
