  1. The methods of British headpointing and trad climbing are a little silly.
  2. Thanks.
  3. Does anyone have the beta on a secret beach that is only a short hike from the parking area by the river that you drive down to after climbing at Vantage? Jumping into the water and climbing back out on the rocks by the gravel parking area kind of sucks.
  4. Absolutely any peak in WA could be done in a day. -and- Every route in WA could be done in a day. -Certainly not be me though!
  5. A guide's training program at a college sound's like a joke of a program to me. It must be for those Via-ferratas up at Whistler.
  6. I would have to second the Bonatti book. I really like "Eiger Dreams" by John Krakauer
  7. Inspiring post Mark! Keep at it!
  8. Ultimate Everything- Squamish Condomorphine Addiction Freeway Gun Show Infinite Bliss Riverview park & columns, Corn Wall, Millenium wall- Vantage Treslte area routes- exit 38 Any bouldering areas within 20 miles of North Bend Bolted Routes above Lake Cle Elum out of Roslyn Abiel peak- ice routes Squak Pinnacles rock routes near Blewett Pass
  9. One nice thing about forces on junk gear on really low angle slabs is that the forces are suuuuuuper low.
  10. In my humble opinion: Static Point is the Finest slab climbing in North America outside of the state of California. Certainly better than Squamish's slabs.
  11. I'm not a fan of the fixed chain QD's on steep routes because they seem to add a ton of rope drag and make the rope feel heavier. Rifle has a bunch of them. ---------------------- It is pretty scary how weak some of that hardware store stuff is.
  12. Make that 7 cc'ers last night.
  13. Another one to mention that is on that "100" list. Sherpa Balanced Rock is the true summit of Sherpa Peak. (by only a couple of feet though).
  14. That looks like some great limestone!
  15. I.Thou shalt not uttereth thy names "Infinite Bliss" or "Condomorphine Addicition" in trip report on this website. II. Thou shalt not show trip report photos of shorts over polypro or write trip reports when climbing with any branch of the mountaineers organization.
  16. And to all you thousands of hardmen and hardwomen lurkers that read this site every day, show up. This is "the" big cc.com event of the year. It is way better than the feathered friends rockfest or any other "fest". We've had some mighty fine kegs of hand crafted beer over the years.
  17. How about the group site again at 8-mile in early october.
  18. I often get waved through without any questions or ID requests.
  19. Interesting post Bill about the scorpions. I've seen em' under rocks in eastern Washington. When I tell folks that we have scorpions here they don't believe it. ------------------------------------------ I was on the upper t.w. at index once and saw a Perigrine pump and go into a 2,000 foot dive toward the river. It looked to be as fast as the blue angels last weekend. The woodland park zoo raptor guru said they've been clocked at 285mph-fastest living thing on planet earth. -------------------------------------------- I was buzzed by a kestrel once. My hair blew up the thing flew so close.
  20. You can walk down in rock shoes but it sucks pretty bad.
  21. Thanks guys! ----------------------------- So many people don't realize what a gem static point is!
