tvashtarkatena Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Any recommendations for backcountry cabins in WA? Fee or free. I'm familiar with the fire lookouts already.... Quote
Pete_H Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 There aren't any because it "destroys the wilderness." Quote
Pete_H Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Well, there's the North Cascade Heli-Ski yurt. That would be rad. Quote
Pete_H Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 You should just go to B.C. there's a ton up there. Quote
G-spotter Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 He can't cross the border cause of potheadedness and shit. Quote
Pete_H Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 There's some yurts in the Wallowas too. I think they're privately owned though but they are for skiing. Quote
Pete_H Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 He can't cross the border because he might get violated by the TSA after that interview he gave. Quote
AlpineK Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Here's a nice hut [img:center]http://hartfoundation.net/2009/MTB/Cascade_Hut.jpg[/img] Australia has Cascades too. http://www.worldwidepanorama.org/worldwidepanorama/wwp307/html/SimonWheaton-3172.html Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Cool, that one is safe from the aliens and government mind control waves even! Quote
dberdinka Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 East of Republic in the Kettle Range the FS maintains a very cool cabin that has good backcountry skiing in huge old burns on ~7000' peaks. It was cheap a long time ago. Take 3ish? hours to ski into. Reservable and cheap. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 He can't cross the border cause of potheadedness and shit. Wrong on that one, too. Quote

Sargent_Rock Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Have you heard of Snow Peak near Republic? Here's a link: http://www.recreation.gov/recAreaDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&facilityId=394669&agencyCode=131 Quote
Phil K Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Have you heard of Snow Peak near Republic? Here's a link: http://www.recreation.gov/recAreaDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&facilityId=394669&agencyCode=131 I like how they use a stock shot of the Tetons for their background photo. 'Sounds pretty cool though! Quote
Stefan Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 summer or winter? I guess winter... but if you can get to them you will have them all to yourself...Tungsten, Sheep Lake, Freezeout Creek. The north cascades heli skiing has one in Indiana Basin...pay them money. About 17 miles on skis one way. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 I've stayed at Freezeout and Tungsten...rustic (ie, rodent friendly). I'm guessing Sheep Lake is near Sheep Mountain (boundary trail). Haven't been to that one. Quote
