tvashtarkatena Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) Trip: Castle Peak - NW Ridge Date: 9/21/2011 Trip Report: Josh and I spent five days paddling, portaging, hiking, scwacking, and climbing to nab one of Washington's most remote summits. Here is our story: [video:vimeo]30922088 Gear Notes: boat and tennies Approach Notes: Castle trail turnoff is marked by a sign to Hozomeen (shown in vid), although it's invisible at that point. The trail itself is blown out by a slide for the first several hundred yards. It's decent after that save for the last two miles which have been obliterated by avalanches. Tyson.g Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Awesome Pat! Although in your videos I really like the "Night Visit". You do seem way too nice however, as most of my buddies would have killed and ate that bastard right quick. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 I'm not as nice to the rats in my neighborhood. Quote
JoshK Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 FWIW, the paddle up in to the flooded Devil's Creek canyon on Ross Lake comes highly recommended. It's a very cool, narrow canyon with lots of hanging gardens clinging to the walls. Quote

joe_catellani Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 "how come you didn't go in via manning park?" It's the journey, not the destination. border "issues" might be another factor. Quote
