Trip: Hyalite - The Days of Jack

Date: 3/25/2010

Trip Report:

Thanks largely in part to the Family Leave Act of 1993 I loaded up my new and improved family and headed to Bozeman to enjoy some late season ice climbing before they closed the road. Some pics:

Ran into Donn and Rodney @ the Royal 7 (but of course!); they were gracious enough to let me tag along one day and shoot pics!

Upon retirement most gentlemen relocate to warmer places and take up shuffleboard or golf. Or sit around and bitch on the internet about "the good old days of climbing" :grlaf:

Not Donn. :rawk::rocken:

Love the lil Patagonia ruggermatic he's wearing.... :lmao:

So cool you guys are getting out! I was doing rental houses back then, remember propping my daughter (now 24 years old!) in a bassinet in the corner so I could paint, much better to get the lil one outside.

What tools are you getting him John?

I'm hoping he has the sense to pursue something else but if he does decide to give it a go Ill likely start him on the lightest shortest tool they make... I believe Grivel makes a lil'monster that would be appropriate :)

How many of us start out with a $500 bivy/belay jacket? Jack obviously knows how to sort his gear already!111.gif

The mutant at an early age...he won't require tools!

Great TR John!! Your son is adorable - so happy! Us bottom dwellers at Albina Press had noticed the Frieh family was MIA.... figured as much ;)

Shannon is definitely a super-mom! :)
