denalidave Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 What we really need is a JDJR forum so we can cover all the other fantastic opportunities at MalWart. We could even do MalWart TRs. Quote
johndavidjr Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Nobody has tried to refute this, nor even explicitly disagreed.  Its way more funny to watch you argue with yourself.   $20 doesn't even fill have a tank of gas $20 barely covers three value meals at McD's  Anyone who is so cheap that they are willing to risk their life using piece of shit equipment in severe alpine conditions is a stupid mother fucker   Cascades in summer don't generally present "severe alpine conditions" that are a risk to life.  Where did you get this notion? olyclimber Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Creepy sleeping and hiking advise for boy scout-types in mild conditions is my concern. Â Quote
G-spotter Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 JDJR is pitchin' a puptent pretty hard, but has no catcher Quote
olyclimber Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Many climbers I meet have essentially unlimited funds and are mid-career doctors. Quote

olyclimber Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I'd NEVER buy a $4.00 bottle of wine and Budweiser is bad for morality. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Â Cascades in summer don't generally present "severe alpine conditions" that are a risk to life. Â Where did you get this notion? Â From climbing in the cascades in the summer. Â Above treeline. Â Â Quote
G-spotter Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 JDJR seems to assert that if you don't really need a tent you might as well have cheap tent  Implicit in that assertation is unquestioned need for any tent.  "Why buy a GoreTex jacket? Its sunny today. T shirt fine" thinking. Quote
olyclimber Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Rock climbers have somewhat healthy tendency to shop for equipment by brand. Quote
denalidave Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I do find it amusing that, of all the crusades one could choose to support in this life, the MalWart pup tent is JDJR's obsession. Go JDJR, you go... The world will be a much better place once EVERYONE knows the value offered at MalWart. Quote

G-spotter Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Some of the very best climbers I've encountered in Washington State have been relatively poor, and weirdly humble, backwoodsmen. Â Quote
olyclimber Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 humility is an odd attribute. especially if you are a poor backwoodsman. Â Quote
johndavidjr Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Washington is culturally like a westward extension of Minnesota. Even the subtle local patois reflects this, and I suppose there are historical reasons. Â I hear they make the greatest Swedish tents there.... Quote
Chaps Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hi-ho! Hey buddy, I'm in Minnesota, you want to meet up somewhere in between and do some cragging? I have a 30 meter rope. Do you have a rack? Quote
LostCamKenny Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Washington is culturally like a westward extension of Minnesota  Oregon isn't included in that observation is it? all righty... ooooooookay... i'm off to eat my pickled herring and goat cheese now! Quote
G-spotter Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Bivanorak http://www.hilleberg.com/2006%20Products/NewBivanorak.htm  Vs.  garbage bag (FREE SAMPLE!)  http://instoresnow.walmart.com/enhancedrendercontent_ektid56034.aspx  Don't want to sleep in garbage bag? johndavidjr Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 GM is what a select few, really elite people (Not Glen Beck) know as General Motors Corp. Â The "dumbing down" I perceive here, is part of the point of my original post. Â It's too easy to "con" people into magical thinking that sleeping out in summertime weather requires death-defying bravey and extremely expensive items that can protect you from "severe alpine conditions." Â What you might ACTUALLY appreciate, among your frequent nightmares about death in your sleep in a pleasant summer night............. is a little bug netting and a waterproof canopy, along with minimal weight and bulk. Choada_Boy Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Will the Bivanorak fit over my Lippiselkbag sleeping/ambulation system? Â Quote
johndavidjr Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 yOU COULD DIE USING THAT THING....are YOU STUPID??? Â But it could help in "severe alpine conditions" that threaten your very life....which is so typical in facing the terrible Cascades summer weather and costs more in bravery, and wages, than most people can afford. Â Only the strong survive..... Quote
