I don't believe we should ignore hate speech. I don't watch/listen to these shows, which isn't the same as pretending they aren't a threat to democracy.

Me either, however, didn't you just totally ignore Choada boys threats to exterminate Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh?

What I find hilarious is that liberals now have control of the executive branch, the House, and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, and they still can't foist their agenda on the American public.

And now they want to take the next step and silence all voices of opposition veiling their anti-democratic motives in the guise of 'democracy'.

I didn't ignore it but I am simply not equating some dude's over the top bluster on the internet (toward nobody present here) with hatemongers enabled by corporate media to deliver their vitriol to millions every day. Did the issue of scale and access escape you? Otherwise, I wish people didn't make these kinds of comments because it decredibilizes what they otherwise stand for and Choada seems to stand for many of the right things.

You become more irritable as you lose Sanity, but reserve your ire for your superior(s), since superior(s) got you into this mess. If temporarily insane, you suffer hysterical outbursts of anger directed at your superior(s), berating their incompetence, dishonesty, and sloth. If indefinitely insane, you become convinced that A cell and your cell leader are somehow the events and that steps must be taken to stop them. At zero Sanity, you attempt to murder any superior you see. When you run out of superiors, everyone starts to look like a superior.

Now you're starting to make sense.

Ahh, it's an issue of scale then. OK. As long as he only threatens to "Exterminate" a few, and it's the right few, you are supportive. If he goes on the radio then and only then would you feel it is wrong.

Got it, thanks for the clarification. For myself, I don't feel that way. But at least some of it bothers you, for the rest posting on here, they don't seem too concerned if Rush Limbaugh or any other (right wing) talk show host gets whacked it appears.

Well I do not think even the most unhinged moonbat is going to do anything because CB has a post about el Rusho seeing as it is red by a few dozen bored semi-climbers at most. On th other hand when Bachman or Beck says that the census takers are looking to place rednecks in extermination camps some of their 2,000,000 dittoheads might be provoked to take action.

of course. I am not sure where Bill got that CB's hating on the haters was going to go any further than this page, which'd be different if the hating was directed at a participant here. The problem with hate speech isn't the fact that someone is willing to look like a hating fool but that someone will act on their hate and/or that said speech will impact in anyway the object of hatred.

New McCarthyism: Fear of science and the war on rationality

by Peter Gleick

As more and more of the world looks to knowledge, education, and science as the routes out of poverty and conflict, parts of America seems to be slipping back toward the Dark Ages, when fear of knowledge and science led to an impoverishment of civilization that had lasting effects for centuries.

Just imagining the number of people that are out there, nodding along, while fretting that their appointment with the homeopath conflicts with the anti-vaccine rally that they penciled in before someone sent them the e-mail about the anti-GMO working group that's holding a strategy session at the same time...

I'm sure you'll both forgive the rest of us if we continue to focus on those irrational followers that are actually (somewhat) relevant.

Priceless as ever: [ultimately, climate change hysteria rests on an unbiblical view of God, mankind, and the environment. Come and hear how the Cornwall Alliance is pushing back--producing ground-breaking studies on Biblical environmentalism, educating pastors and churches across the country, and activating thousands of Christians to rally against the hype through the WeGetIt.org Campaign. Learn why policies to fight alleged man-made global warming will instead cause hundreds of millions of premature deaths throughout this century, and how human liberty, responsibility, and flourishing are the key to a healthier environment]

"Even the more radical conservatives in Europe, who tend to emulate American and British conservatism, uphold environmental values and grasp the challenge of climate change. Those leaders cannot understand why their ideological comrades in the United States refuse to acknowledge the gravity of the problem -- and insist that "conservatism" is synonymous with freedom to pollute and ruin":

Yep. And we, in the US, are stuck with the boneheadiest of the boneheads in the Universe!

While we as a country watch idiots with "Obama is a Nazi" signs on TV, ALL the civilized countries in the world are pursuing solar and other alternative energy sources and are about to overtake us in every venue of science and technology. We are meanwhile preoccupied with "socialism". Serves us well, we'll be paying for our own stupidity. Nobody does it to us, not Al Qaeda, not Kim Il-sung, but we, ourselves...

The U.S. actually had a leg up on the fledgling solar industry when Carter gave them some decent subsidies to get started and tax incentives. That all cratered when Regean came in and axed that program. The industry then went overseas to China, Germany, and Japan where the government saw the larger picture, the need for alternative energy, and the benefits of expanding manufacturing into new arenas. What a concept.

Actually Miss M, I do agree with what you say....our overuse of raw materials for non-important things is a huge issue for our society with a bill we have yet to start paying, however, globalism is a force which will rickroll us as well.

I was looking for a place to put my thumb picture.

My earlier point remains...do not place your thumb into a Munter while rapping, and you can't argue me out of that position.
