dberdinka Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Or you could buy a Japanese right-hand-drive Diesel 4x4 Delica StarWagon  What the F$%K is up with these things? Seemed like half the dirtbags in Tofino this summer were rolling in one. Is it like the ultimate badge of the Canadian Trustafarian? Quote
G-spotter Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 4x4, diesel, VW van sized, good clearance, under $10G what's not to like? Quote
olyclimber Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 its a cheaper syncro basically. and you can apply to almost all Patagonia.com lifestyle use cases to it. Quote
G-spotter Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Except if you get one of the ones like Fern got where the engine explodes in flames while you are driving on the i-5 Quote

They are distinctly smaller than a Vanagon, I can see it working as a Fern camper but two of me might find it a wee bit cramped.  Under 10 grand though? There's a lot to like about that. Quote
olyclimber Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Except if you get one of the ones like Fern got where the engine explodes in flames while you are driving on the i-5 Â is that feature optional or is it included in the base model? i do like explosions. Quote

jshamster Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Saw one of these little gizmos drivin' around Snohomish today. It's actually smaller that my Chrysler T&C minivan that I have kitted out with a bed. Sure, more bells & whistles, but pretty tiny lookin'. Â Cheers. Jimbo Quote
jmace Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 what's not to like?  Horrendous blind spots  recently banned in quebec other provinces to follow suit shortly  ICBC just did a study and found that RHD vehicles get into more accidents than LHD...basically you cant see fark all when you pull out of the curb labe parking spot..  Insurance is about to go up for RHD vehicles and then an outright ban  Just get an old solid front axle truck throw boler on the rear, quickly notch out the wheel wells in the boler to except an old jeep axle and tire and roll down the street in your style!!    Tru Canadian Style!!  best thing is you can open the curtains up in the rear window and still use your rear view...plus its skinny enough you dont need extra side views...kitchen and the whole works..   Quote
CollinWoods Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Looks like a suped up van... Prety much. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Financially, Owners Raped by Detroit  Interesting, my Ford Escort served me well for 10+ years. Never had any problems outside of normal wear and tear (brake pads, car battery, tires, timing chain, etc).  You, and all the other libtards bashing on Ford, should love them and GM, Dru. They are UNION shops after all. You know, the workers came together there and fought for their benefits and retirement packages, conditions of work, work week, etc. And they produce the best quality product they can - much better than if they were not unionized. Right?  Or maybe supporting unions and bitching about capitalism is just a smokescreen for the chronically hypocritical (a.k.a. libtards).   Quote
CollinWoods Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I would never let my company become unionized... Quote
aussie69 Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I love the woods as much as the next guy. Hell I'll even sleep under the stars every now and again. But you god dam B.O. smellin, Dope smokin, skranny white skinned, trust fund kids are friggin retarded! Can we make requests on the Darwinism factor? Quote

Fords and GMs are union made, not so spendy, and suck. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Fords and GMs are union made, not so spendy, and suck. Â A Ford beats a lesbaru any day of the week. Quote
olyclimber Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Thats because they were UNION MADE. Quote
RuMR Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Fords and GMs are union made, not so spendy, and suck.  A Ford beats a lesbaru any day of the week. yeah...well, my one and only ford, was an AWD aerostar, bought new. We put 4, FOUR, transfer cases in by the time we hit 50K miles. Of course the warranty was gone at 35, and ford *graciously* decided to pick up the parts and we picked up the labor. So, i asked the ford dealer, "Uhmmm is this unusual? I think this must be grossly underdesigned as i'm not pulling anything and just doing freeway miles mainly"  His response: "Never seen nuthin' like this" BULLFUCKINGSHIT!!! Turns out there was a class action lawsuit going on over this very issue...  I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN!!! fuck those lying sacks of shit...   oh, and KKK, how's this for the word of the day? "PINTO"  its their management that's fucked...got nothing to do with their autoworker...  been quite happy with the wife's lesbaru...no issues at all... Quote

A Ford lasts a couple years and less than 100,000 miles and is basically spare parts if you are lucky. A Subaru goes 200,000 miles no prob. and drives right past all the Fords that are broken down, slid in the ditch etc. Â Japanese cars are made by the engineers, seems like N Am cars are made by a committee in the marketing dept. You want to see the same concept done right vs. fucked up compare the Aztek to the Element. Quote
Pete_H Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 KKK - Do you really drive an Escort? Quote
G-spotter Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Basically driving a Ford is like prison sex, you're only doing it because you can't get anything better. Quote
