olyclimber Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Just a "save the date" notice for now. Sept 25-27th. Bridge Creek group campsite. I have one of the more prolific PNW climbers this year lined up for a slide show, and we'll most likely be having some sort of fundraising for helping to buy the Lower Town Wall.
amber10_79 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Quick question. I've been to Rockfest a number of times over the years, and tried to make it to Rope Up in 2007, but was unable to. From what I've heard, Rope up is similar to Rockfest, just on a smaller, and more casual, scale. What kind of equiptment does each person need to bring? I have shoes and a harness, but none of the ropes or belay devices, etc, as I don't get to climb nearly as often as I'd like to. If someone could even just point me in the right direction for info, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks ~Amber
olyclimber Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Just bring your shoes and harness, I'm sure someone will let you climb with them!
DPS Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Last year I did the Enchantments loop trail run. It was super fun. Anybody care to join me this year?
Pete_H Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 What kind of equiptment does each person need to bring? ~Amber A liter of tequila, 20 miligrams of mescaline, some crayola crayons, duct tape, and 40 yards of bailing twine.

Alpinfox Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Kit Lewis could give the same show as last year. "Today is a good day to die"
DPS Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Kit Lewis' slide show reminded me of a cross beteen Mark Twight and Jerry Lewis. Pure gold!
Pete_H Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 It was more like Mark Twight and Hunter S. Thompson.
Beck Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 that sounds like a ropeup worth attending and in the best spirits of the dirtbags that kicked off the first CC.com Leavenwurst Ropeup. ....anyone remember the year the American Alpine Club bought 300 bucks worth of sausages and beer for everyone and John Harlin from the AAJ showed up to reminisce.. damn straight. you guys rock. keep the party rolling....
Off_White Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Beck! Nice to see you remember your password, this is your ninth post in the last five years. You going to Ropeup this year?
olyclimber Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 Crisp fall days in the Icicle! I'm looking forward to it! I haven't gotten out that way enough this year. Bridge Creek Campground this year instead of 8-Mile, FYI!
olyclimber Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 I'm also looking help! We need a digital projector, laptop. I have a generator. And the rest of the stuff we need to pull it off.
sobo Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Can't help ya with the electronics, Porter, but I can bring a big QuikShade canopy to cover the slideshow gear (just in case...) and some other stuff, like a camp stove and shit. Lemme know.

Weekend_Climberz Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Only 40 yards of bailing twine? I thought this was going to be a party?
thelawgoddess Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Only 40 yards of bailing twine? I thought this was going to be a party? Well ... why wouldn't it be?
olyclimber Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 also looking for slideshow material. i was thinking it would be cool to make a slideshow of a particular area (like the Bugaboos or something) and have everyone who has climbed there (I have not unfortunately) show some pics of what they did. just an idea.
olyclimber Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 We may rent a clown this year too. http://www.clownsunlimited.com/view_product.php/1/1013

I have some mediocre photos of some moderate local climbs from this summer if that helps.
sobo Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 We may rent a clown this year too. No need, Porter. We already have one.
olyclimber Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 yeah sobo...he is one of those going to the Icefest. You know his wife doesn't give him enough of a leash to venture so far north anyway.
olyclimber Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 You know, I wonder if we can invite Raindawg and Pope to give a clinic?
olyclimber Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 How about a Enchantments Slide Show? Thats basically what it is becoming anyway. I've got a couple people who have recently done new stuff in that area that could show slides.
