Additionally, if the British had gotten a little more exercise and training, they might not have gotten their asses kicked clear to Dunkirk by the kids pursuing 'Strength through Joy'. olyclimber Posted May 6, 2008 Author Share Posted May 6, 2008 in retrospect i was being over zealous in saying that this is wrong perhaps....it would be over zealous if it was a state run highschool for homeland security. then it would be the goosestepper youth. i still think it is weird to have a highschool for homeland security though, even if it is privately run. i think it is a little different than a private military academy highschool in that it is so focused. i have always though private military academys as teaching mostly the diciplinary and "boot campish" elements, rather than actual military skills such as hand to hand combat or how to drive a tank or fire artillery. but this is a school focused on highschool aged kids to teach homeland security? its like rent-a-cop highschool or something. regarding evergreen: "Founded in 1967, Evergreen was formed to be an experimental and non-traditional college. Of course, Rachael Corrie's parents see things differently, but I can't help think that poor girl would have had a wonderful life had she been offered more balanced curricula. And lately, things have just gotten downright ugly in Olympia--and all roads seem to lead directly to The Evergreen State College. I think some profs and staff owe the public an explanation. Now...you were saying something about a privately funded school that appears to offer a focused, albeit narrow curriculum directed toward internal security? I guess I'll agree it's odd--but at least we're not paying for it. BTW: I only recognize four names on your list. I'll bet most other state schools produce superior alum lists annually. Perhaps she'd have a different attitude if it was her vehicle. You don't like Evergreen Fairweather. You've stated that a few times. I'm not sure what to say. The college runs the canopy crane down in the wind river forest south of Mt. Adams. That's a pretty cool thing. I got a ride in it once. They do a lot of interesting research. The crowd then attacked the officers from all sides for two hours with rocks, beer bottles, signposts, chairs, and pieces of concrete, allegedly cheering whenever an officer was struck and injured. Twenty-three officers were injured, some suffering concussions and broken bones. Reports of students and onlookers injured ranged from four to 12. Three people were arrested during the melee. Recently, we had a double homicide at Ft Lewis over extramarital jealousy. Davila, 22, is charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice with two counts of premeditated murder, one count of kidnapping, one count of burglary and one count of obstruction of justice. Probable cause documents say Davila killed the couple in their Parkland, Wash. home Saturday because she was angry an ex-boyfriend left her to have a relationship with Randi Miller. It's believed Davila shot the couple multiple times, and then poured acid on them in the bathtub in an attempt to destroy the bodies. Davila took the couple's daughter, but when she was questioned by a friend about why she had the girl, she allegedly admitted she had killed the parents. In fact, military personnel commit domestic violence at a rate 3 to 5 times greater than the civilian population. I think we oughta shut that operation down too, it's a huge waste of public dollars. Face it Fairweather, you've just got an ideological axe to grind with regards to TESC. I'd be hardpressed to blame the business damage to hardcore political groups rather than some criminal opportunists who took advantage of the situation. You would think that Evergreen is some hotbed of radicalism that serves as a gathering place for the training of potential unlawful enemy combatants.
