How about this dude

That was New Zealand's hardest sport climb for 15 years, and was just repeated this fall.

I think I like the Fila better.

link to the news of the repeat?

I've got a rad NZ climbing DVD that shows Derrick Thatcher on a few routes (plus a lot of great diverse climbing). Let me know if you have any interest in borrowing it and you are more than welcome to snag it next time you are across teh border.

Article: NASA Releases E-Mail in Astronaut Case

“…Meanwhile, Commander Oefelein’s relationship with Captain Shipman was developing. In late January, Commander Oefelein invited her on a trip his shuttle crew was taking to his home state, Alaska, and said he had been asked about her clothing size for arctic gear.

“ ‘I think I can figure that out,’ he wrote. ‘Sized sexy and athletic.’ “

Freedom of movement, a little weight savings (some knickers were cotton...the bottom leg of the pant would just get wet, heavy, and cold anyway, others were heavy wool: cutting off the calf saved significant weight), and heat dissipation, mostly. I 'knickerize' my pants a fair bit of the time. Note the thick wooly knee socks...I don't think anybody got too much colder back then for lack of long pants.
