Figger_Eight Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Hey Ya'lls, I'm wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head of any good off-widths in 11worth with easy access. Thanks in advance! - Eddie Quote
Sherri Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Damnation, 5.9(Castle Rock) and Carnival Crack 5.10d(Icicle). Here's a link to a "Jammer Primer" that contains some others: Crack List Quote
Figger_Eight Posted May 26, 2007 Author Posted May 26, 2007 Thanks for the replies, but I'm looking for cracks that'll take armbars, chickenwings, kneebars, blabbedy blah. I guess I can poke around in the rocks off the road but I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas. Quote
Alex Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Carnival Crack. Also the West F of Piton Tower has like 15 ft of offwidth on it, as part of a very varied crux pitch. Quote
Drederek Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 There's a very wide ("12" or so) left of the special spot Quote
Dannible Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I don't know what it's called, but next to "La Cucaracha" there is a nasty one that doesn't really let you get solid jams of any kind. The book calls it 5.9, but personally I would say that it is the hardest single pitch that I have climbed. Quote
chris Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 How about any single-pitch OW routes? Boulder problems? Quote
ScottP Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 West face of Peek-a-Boo Tower. Leans left and, seemingly, out. Not very long (20 feet?) At times I felt more like I was riding a horse than climbing a crack. Quote
G-spotter Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Vertigo? or whatever on the backside of Grand Central at Peshastin. Quote
Off_White Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 That might be Bombshelter you're talking about. Quote
NYC007 Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 there is one on punl rock in sel. climbs II that looks sweet Quote
SlickWilly Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Why? Are you getting into offwidths or somethin'? Or did your girlfriend piss you off recently? Quote
tradclimbguy Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Head up to Midnight Rock. There are two OW's there that will give you a good kick in the face and when you are done with those you can jump on ROTC for a stellar crack! Quote
MattStan Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 RE: the backside of Grand Central at Peshastin... Vertigo has more of a chimney on its upper half, not really an off-width. Empire State possesses a few off-width moves here and there, but doesn't stand out as an off-width per se, especially with all its face holds. Bomb Shelter definitely isn't an off-width either. I remember belaying Jens on that ages ago... not that a belay mattered, as the kitty-litter rock and aged fix pro probably wouldn't hold the bodyweight of an infant. T'was a nice on-sight on Jens's part. Quote
Adventureboy Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 easter overhang supercrack meatgrinder, eventhough its not offwidth has some offwitdthesque movement Quote
Otto Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 And also Rollercoaster Chimney. I recall some offwidth technique at the top of it. Quote
counterfeitfake Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Why? Are you getting into offwidths or somethin'? Or did your girlfriend piss you off recently? He has too much blood and water in his body. Quote
