Crillz Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 The guide book I have said to get a parking pass from this place in George. The old guy at "this" place in George told me they didn't sell them anymore - but to go to another town to get it. I said f*ck it and went cragging w/out the parking permit - and saw many other cars didn't have a permit. Are they necessary? Can I get one around Seattle? Anyone ever gotten a ticket for not having a permit? Quote
rob Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 (edited) I think you can get them anywhere they sell hunting/fishing permits. i.e. fred myers, wallmart, etc. Edited March 14, 2007 by robmcdan Quote
catbirdseat Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Probably nine times out of ten you'll get away without the permit, but when they get you it's $60. The permits are good until March 31. Wait until April to get one then it will be good for a year. Quote
needtoclimb Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I have parked and climbed out there about 50 times, and have never recieved a ticket. But then again, I am out mostly during the week and try to avoid weekends. I have never figured out where to by a permit either, so I just hadn't bothered. Quote

roboboy Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 You can buy a WA hunting or fishing license here and receive it by mail and it includes the parking permit good at Vantage at no extra charge. fishing licenses I bought one and received it in just a few days. Quote
archenemy Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 You can also just go to your local Fred Meyer's and get it at the help counter. Quote
archenemy Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Or Big Five, but they never seem to know what is going on. Quote
tradclimbguy Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 If you are like us and forget your pass expired on the way. Get off at exit 84 in Cle Elum and turn into the Safeway parking lot and complex. Right next to safeway there is: Cle Elum Hardware & Rental (509) 674-2700 811 W Davis St Cle Elum, WA 98922 I bought mine there last year for 12 bucks or something. Quote
archenemy Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 (edited) get it here http://wta.org/~wta/cgi-bin/wtaweb.pl?0+fp Edited March 14, 2007 by archenemy Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Better yet, hitchhike with some concert goers, then you don't have a car to worry about  Quote
jimclimb Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I did the same thing a couple of years ago...went to the store in Vantage and they had stopped selling them...went on and got a ticket...can't remember the extact amount but it was over sixty bucks. If you don't get the fishng lic, the parking permit is pretty cheap. Quote
richard_noggin Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 The pass changes to the 2007 pass on April 1st the new ones are different, they don't stick on, they hang from your mirror. Usually the DFW don't give tickets at the Vantage climbing area when the change is happening and they are usually busy with the fishermen right now. Fredies in Eburg has them. Oh yeah!!! parking along the road DOES NOT work and the sheriff has been known to write parking tickets Vantage is choss, why would anyone want to climb there? Quote
Mr_Phil Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Because in the early season, it can be warm, sunny, and dry choss. Quote
kurthicks Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 parking along the road DOES NOT work and the sheriff has been known to write parking tickets this depends on where you park and how far you get off the road. Quote
dmuja Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Vantage is choss, why would anyone want to climb there? b'cuz when the hold breaks off, you get to leave a little bit of yourself behind in (on) the desert beauty. Also, you could take a little peice of that beauty back home with you. Who could ask for more? Quote
eclipse179 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 So just to clarify, do you need the fishing pass that comes with a fishing license and hangs from your mirror (the new ones) or do you need a Norhwest Forest Pass like Archenemy posted a link for? I have a fishing pass and don't want to pay/can't afford getting screwed out of 60+ dollars. Quote
archenemy Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I think you may appreciate this link: http://www.washingtonflyfishing.com/board/ Quote
