KaskadskyjKozak Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I spent 6 hours filling in my 1040 and associated schedules last night. Crashed at about 1:30 a.m. Anybody take even longer than that? Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 See how much easier it would be if you were an illegal alien? Quote

AlpineK Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I spent the last couple afternoons working on taxes. Getting hurt pays in tax refunds. The best news is I'm all done. Quote
knotzen Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I think that is the best thing about taxes--the good feeling you have when you are finished, and you know where you stand. Quote
Off_White Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Anybody take even longer than that? Oh yeah. Two businesses, six employees, two jobs, three rental properties, seven lords a leaping, depreciation schedules, vehicle expense tracking, W-2, W-3, 1099, HSA, IRA, ROTH, SEP, WTF, OMFG.... blah blah blah. Quote
sobo Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Anybody take even longer than that? Easily! Adopt a couple of rugrats and see how long it takes you then. Over 13 hours over three days last year. And last year was the first year I've gotten a refund since before I got married! Let's see... complete Form 8839, and make sure to add the adoption credit carryover from 2005. Can't take Child Tax Credit because you filed Form 8839, so see Publication 972 to complete the Child Tax Credit Worksheet to see if you might still be able to take the Child Tax Credit. You cannot take the Child Tax Credit, but you may be able to claim the Additional Child Tax Credit, so complete Form 8812... blah blah blah. Don't even get me started on Schedule A and Form 2106... AlpineK Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 The best thing about doing my taxes was having my former employee come over to pick up his W2. It was nice to see him since he's the guy that called 911 when I got hurt. Right now he's working for a friend of mine and doing well. Quote
cindy66 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Inside the terror of being a new-widow,I brought mine to H&R Block, for them to charge me 180.bucks just to tell me I was only getting 375. back.....the thought of "where's yer sign?" came thru my head when a litle lady says to me,"1040 EZ"!!! Yeah, it's been worse in the past when I had ISOs to cash or did some independent consulting. Those forms all suck. This year I had to run through the damn AMT calculation again only to find I didn't have to pay AMT. That was a 2 hour sidetrack. Quote
Off_White Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Yeah, I think the AMT was what Kurtz was thinking about when he muttered, "The horror, the horror." Quote
archenemy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Last year my tax bill was my second greatest expense. Only my mortgage was more. Quote
olyclimber Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 if she's taxing you for it, then I believe that it is illegal in the state of washington. Quote
archenemy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Oly, what the fuck are you talking about? And where the hell are my tarps? Quote

archenemy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I'm in bed. And it's shitty outside. And I wouldn't have anything to give you shit about. Quote
Alex Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 archenemy in bed, oly coming...over...with tarps, I am waiting breathlessly for the next post! Quote
Mr_Phil Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 TurboTax on the web. Imported income and investment info. Done in an hour. H&R Block? Whatever you do, don't buy any of their financial products. Quote
underworld Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 H&R Block? Whatever you do, don't buy any of their financial products. why? Quote
AlpineK Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I didn't get it off the web, but I vote for TurboTax. It makes things easy even if you run your own business Quote
