melonhead
Just to throw down the gauntlet, a group of Kurts' Arbopals got together on Monday and raised $4000 for Kurt's trust fund. Those of you who are also self employed know how poorly we are generally insured in a catastrophe such as this. 3 weeks and counting at Harborview, it seems pretty clear that the guy will be facing some big bills in the coming months before he can get back to work. willstrickland
We don't have any branches of WaMu up here, and I don't do PayPal at the moment. Any ideas?
olyclimber
Mail a check to a WaMu branch.
MisterMo
What he said. Make check payable to Kurt E. Fickeisen Trust Fund. Painless.
snoboy
Do you think they would accept money orders in U$ mailed from Canada?
whidbey
If I write a check in Canada all I do is write on it... "US FUNDS".. should be the same the other way.
snoboy
You can not draw US funds fom a Canadian Bank account... not by cheque anyways. But I guess I could write a Canadian cheque, and then the bank can do conversion. Might be a good excuse for another trip to Spokane though. archenemy
I had trouble yesterday donating to the fund. I was at WAMU, and they were not able to find the Fickeisen name. I don't know if he looked under "K"; is that a formal title to the fund or something? Has anyone else had trouble searching just by name? When I go back in, I'll take the # with me, but I am curious about the name issue. Thanks.
AlpineK
Exactly one year ago today the paramedics were taking me to Harborview after I fell off a ladder and whacked my head. He doesn't look at this site, but I'd like to thank my buddy Eric Matteo for randomly being on a job site near where I hurt myself and calling my parents. There were a few other arborists I know that were in the area that day and they did what they could to look after my equipment. Right now I'm a ton better than I was that day. I've got a ways to go, but I've been out climbing and I've even done a little work with some other arborists. Things are looking up.

catbirdseat
Some arborists are removing a huge tree from the front yard of my neighbor's house. It's coming down piece by piece. I was thinking what they are doing scares me to death.
