RuMR Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Hey p-land guys/gals... My brother in law just got started climbing...He's been hitting the gym since fall and has been out to smith a couple of times with me. Is there someone local who would be willing to take him under their wing on some days? He's pretty psyched about climbing, does what you tell him, and would be a decent belayer...he needs on rock time though...pretty good guy as opposed to my asshole-self... Anyone? Nolse??? thanks Rudy Quote
RuMR Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 bump...gee you portlanders sure are nice folks Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 bump...gee you portlanders sure are nice folks Geez, give 'em at least an hour to respond. They are from Oregon you know. Quote
DirtyHarry Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 They're almost through with the first sentence. Should have used smaller words. Quote
kevbone Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Tell him to hit the gym and make friends with people. Most of the good climbing fiends I have I met at the gym over the last 10 years. Quote
John Frieh Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Sorry for the slow response Rudy... some of us actually work during the day I might have room for another padawan learner. Personally I think Joseph H would be best as he could provide detailed instruction into the evils of bolts Ah... that would be karma payback for Rudy! Give him my email or have him call me: 503.758.5772 (email is best though) Also show him the PDX climb/drytool thread... that is his best bet to get involved and meet other locals Quote
Chad_A Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 bump...gee you portlanders sure are nice folks For chrissakes, hold on!!!! I'm trying to finish that chapter in FOTH, and then I'll happily take him out to show him what I know... Quote

RuMR Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 no...he has the same issue as everyone else...just waaaaay too homely to use my beautiful methods! Speaking of, you willing to help him out?? I don't want him to ultimately wind up searching for neutrino's on girth or writing internet dissertations on failing alien cams! BTW: Just kidding john and joseph! Quote
Johnny_Tuff Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Bah, I'd be the flakiest potential partner/educator in PDX. Barely making it to the gym or the crag myself, and at a pretty sadly random schedule at that. So weak! Quote
