HappyCamper Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Bauhaus (instead of the obvious song - "Stigmata Martyr" - Peter Murphy chanting in latin) Aphex Twin - "Come to Daddy" (will scare kids) Type O Negative (pretty much any of their songs - "Black Number One" is a good example) Screaming Jay Hawkins "I put a spell on you" The Doors - "Strange Days" The Misfits - "Mommy, can I go out & kill tonight?" (Glen Danzig - creepy - oxymoron) I am sure there are some really good ones that will come to me later that will show up on a nice Halloween mix. Wouldn't mind finding some good Robert Johnson tunes or other Delta bluesmen - heavy stuff from just a voice and a guitar. Quote

forrest_m Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 pretty much anything from Nick Cave's Murder Ballads. well, pretty much anything from Nick Cave, period. "where the wild roses grow" anyone? On the third day he took me to the river He showed me the roses and we kissed And the last thing I heard was a muttered word As he knelt (stood smiling) above me with a rock in his fist On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief And I kissed her goodbye, said, "All beauty must die" And lent down and planted a rose between her teeth Quote
Peter_Puget Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I prefer the grittier Mr Cave: "I'd crawl over a thousand pussies to get to one asshole" Ah art. Quote

bunglehead Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I prefer the grittier Mr Cave: "I'd crawl over a thousand pussies to get to one asshole" Ah art. Except he stole that from a blues singer from the 60's who performed under the name "Snatch and Poontangs", A.K.A. Johnny Otis. And the original line is much ruder than that. Quote

deadbeatchrist Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 If 'Come to Daddy' is going to be on the list... it has to be the mix by Little Lord Fauntleroy. Make all those acid freaks have flashbacks! Quote
Dru Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 "Seven Souls" - WS Burroughs reading from his version of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, with spooky Bill Laswell music backing... "You have to be in hell to see heaven." "Desperation is the raw material of drastic change. Only those who are willing to forsake everything they have ever believed in can hope to escape." "Are you going to cower in your physical body for eternity? Your body is a boat, to lay aside when you reach the far shore. It's full of holes, it's full of holes" Quote
