Wow. The line on the E. Face looks pretty moderate from that vantage point, but this shot also really puts the avy-hazard into perspective. Looks like certain death if anything cuts loose in the upper bowl.

it's mentioned on summitpost. "Northwest Couloir: Accessed from lower Big Creek. This is an ice climb...Find the couloir in question and climb it. The final portion leaves the ice for Class-4 rock..."

the photo of buck fails to show the 1500' of thrashing required to get out of the alder-choked avalanche catch basin below the face. the approach is frought with danger. the rock is rotten green schist. you will undoubtedly die. but you must take a number and get in line to do so.

John's pictures are fucking awesome...

 

I also think it's great that he is exposing "secret" lines that people like to keep yet never really do anything with. Looks like a ton of great shit to get... cool.gif
