mvs Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 So the clouds are moving in again - blast them!! Is anyone going to try and get out anyway? Even Smith Rocks weather looks grim. Time for the Pasayten? How long is the drive to Idaho? Aid climbing in the rain? Quote

marylou Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 It's 12 hours to Stanley, Idaho. I went there last month when the weather went south right after Labor Day. Â The outdoors are higher elevation there (the bottom's about 6500') so if you go, expect cold and possible SNOW! Â I'd recommend it if you are looking for a change of scenery though. Awesome!! Quote

Ireneo_Funes Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 b-rock's right. Smith is the place to be this weekend. Perfect conditions for "TRAINING FOR THE ALPINE" (a registered trademark of NOLSECORP). Quote
catbirdseat Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 This is the only time of year that do hikes just for hiking sake. I don't mind hiking in the rain, especially if the hike leads to a special place. Quote
mvs Posted October 15, 2004 Author Posted October 15, 2004 Good stuff all, thanks I needed some perspective ("I'm your host, at 4:30 in the a.m., this is Perspectives"). Â Thanks for the Idaho suggestion Marylou. If it were 7 hours I'd do it, 12 is sadly too much. Prob'ly see you guys at Smith or Icicle cragging! Quote
mvs Posted October 15, 2004 Author Posted October 15, 2004 I had an amazingly vivid dream a year ago. My wife and I were at a Christmas party in a very nice house perched atop the Dreamer slabs. I was getting increasingly worried about driving home, because it was starting to snow. I figured that if the snow began to stick to the slabs, we wouldn't be able to safely drive down. Quote
