larrythellama Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Also I would call almost any newer route on Prussik(anyhting say after the early 80's) a variation of a variation. It is such a nice crag. Quote

John Frieh Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 (edited) west face of gunsight? Anyone know if this is accurate? And speaking of the diamond; what about diamond life on bear? Edited August 23, 2004 by NOLSe Quote
Dru Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 all this empty talk about second ascents. let's go back to talking about great climbs without a first ascent Quote
John Frieh Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 What are you talking about? The cascades are climbed out... remember? FA suitors should head to the Rockies... plenty to do there... yeah… plenty! Quote
Off_White Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Stellar Eclipse on Silver Star. Probably takes in the same subsummit, Whine Spire, as Gato Negro, then continues to the top. Quote
Stefan Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Correct me if I am wrong. West face of Siula Grande. There was a great trip report on it. Quote
Stefan Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I am not up on my international climbing, but thanks for that bit of info guys! Quote
Crackbolter Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 west face of gunsight? Dan and Forrest are the only ones who have made it to the base thus far. If I remember correctly, they didn't succeed except for the first pitch or two. I know of 4 parties who made an attempt and none successful. Nice going on that one Carl & Jim. That route is getting the best of the alpine repeaters. Give it another couple of years...and a worthy partner. Quote
dberdinka Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 What Great (or infamous) routes recently saw Second Ascents other than Gay-ton's climb of Inspiration? Who the heck climbed the Soviet Route on Bonanza and what did they experience? Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Maybe this should read "Great Looking climbs (to me) w/o known second ascent". Some of them do look good, some mentioned don't seem to appeal to me... Quote
John Frieh Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Agreed but the discussion is appreciated. I would wager that you would be hard pressed to meet an alpine climber not interested in climbing (second ascent or not) Disappearing floor on Hardy. Quote
