RobBob Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Okay, what are some good, belly-laugh video titles that would make good watching during the holidays? Something along the lines of Dumb & Dumber, Office Space, Christmas Vacation. I need something new to take along to the extended family Christmas. Quote
sk Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 is scool of rock out on video yet?? I LOVED THAT MOVIE Quote
Dru Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 PYTHON and GROUCHO MARX are some classic humour. Â Or some Laurel and Hardy Quote
badvoodoo Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 The Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure of this decade: Dude, Where's My Car? Quote
JoshK Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 old school was funny as hell I thought. Quote
Fejas Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Super troopers and old skool where great... Â Guy Richie, need i say more... 'Lock, stock, and two smoking barrels'; 'snatch'; and the newest and quite posably the best 'mean machine'.... must see! Quote
nonanon Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Try Freaky Friday. It wasn't as good (or as bad) as it could've been, but it's certainly a family friendly film. Â I really liked Stuart Saves his Family "You'll laugh because it's not your family. You'll cry because it is." Â The Guru Also, pretty hokey, but gets a B from me for the effort. The very little sexual content might disqualify it for the kiddies, tho'... Â Too bad Intolerable Cruelty isn't out yet... I thought that was hilarious! But again, definately a NOT for all families. Quote
Dru Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 A CHINESE GHOST STORY. The Hong Kong "Princess Bride". Â Come to think of it Princess Bride is good too. Â And don't forget some seasonal weirdness with THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS Â Oh yeah, another superfunny one is Down By Law dir. Jim Jarmusch, starring Roberto Begnini, Tom Waits and Keith Carradine...anything with Begnini is good but this one is extra good! Quote
willstrickland Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 The Big Lebowski  any Cohen Bros flick for that matter. Quote
Jonathan Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Python, of course, but take another look at the old Bob Hope and Bing Crosby road flicks. "Road to Morocco" is my favorite. Â Disclaimer! Carefully place your post-modern political correctness on the shelf, as well as your faux off-the-rack coolness on the shelf--they'll be safe there. Watch the road movies alone if you have to! Open a few brews and just enjoy some hammy, silly acting with some great tunes to boot. Â Jonathan Pryce Quote
nolanr Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 The animated movies over the last several years have been pretty funny for adults as well as kids. Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Shrek, etc. Quote

Dean_Lowery Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Try "What's Up Doc " with Ryan O'Neal / Barbara Streisand or Naked Gun with Leslie Nielsen. Also, some of the old Peter Seller's movies where he plays Inspector Clouseau are still entertaining. One more, Ski Patrol is definitely along the line of Dumb and Dumber but it has some decent skiing in it. Quote
murraysovereign Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 It's been a while since I've seen any of them, but there are some great old comedies Alec Guinness made for Ealing Studios that are well worth dusting off. "The Lady Killers," "The Lavender Hill Mob," "The Man in the White Suit" and "Kind Hearts and Coronets" are all classics. Quote
arlen Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Isn't it about time for mockumentary night? A Mighty Wind was funny, Best In Show was funnier, and Waiting For Guffman was hilarious, but no movie is funnier on purpose than This Is Spinal Tap . Â You can't go wrong with A Fish Called Wanda. If you're looking for smarty-smart flicks, Adaptation, Rushmore, or Welcome to the Dollhouse are some quirky and funny shit. Quote
Off_White Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 If you're looking for smarty-smart flicks, Adaptation, Rushmore, or Welcome to the Dollhouse are some quirky and funny shit. Â I'd lump "Being John Malkovich" in the same category. Great list of flicks, Arlen. Quote

"The Lady Killers," "The Lavender Hill Mob," "The Man in the White Suit" and "Kind Hearts and Coronets" are all classics. All excellent movies! Esp. "The Lavender Hill Mob". Kind Hearts is definitely one of the more unique acting acheivments. Quote
