WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Intervention?

Recommended Posts

Suppose you have a friend who is an all around good guy. Shows talent rock climbing. Has a good job. You know, the kind of guy who you would be happy if your sister dated instead of the losers she chooses.

Lately you find out that he has become involved with a bad crowd. You know - alpine/ice climbers. Can anything be done to bring him back from the dark side? Is it harmless youthful experimentation? Is it simply another lifestyle?

Intervention now before it is too late?

Advice.

Condolences.

I do have a sister. She’s 5’4”, has two teenage boys, been married 20+ years and is closer to 50 than 40. And guess what - she is still hot!

BTW - Her husband is a good guy. She stopped dating alpinists and married a fisherman!

tell him alpinists don't get laid much.

but then again neither do boulderers or crag monkeys.

Maybe he should take up a nice sport like raquetball.

I have seen the ice axe and the damage done…… frown.gif

I caught you knockin'

at my cellar door

I love you, baby,

can I lead some more

Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

I hit the mountain and

I lost my crew

I watched the chaos

take another few

Gone, gone, the damage done.

I sing the song

because I love the rat

I know that some

of you just don't get that

Ice-blood

to keep on running out.

I've seen the ice-axe

and the damage done

A little part of it in everyone

But every climber's

like a settin' sun....

I won't be so crass as to reveal his identity openly on this site - his family and friends might see it.

yelrotflmao.gifYeah...overtime they tend to become introverted, shoegazing, types that are more comfortable hanging with their male buddies than having a conversation, let alone a relationship with a chick. wink.gif This is particularly true if alpinism attracts them early in their development.

I guess golfers just need a little "help". Just please don't get Tider Woods to be your spokesperson. That might hurt the sport altogether. "...research shows that young golfers need a little "help" in the bedroom dept. The cause for this is unknown. Researchers will be looking into the issue with interest, considering how popular the sport has become with young men who idolize Tiger Woods."

i got a closet ice fetish, but i certainly do not allow it to get the better of me. rock climbing has soo much more to offer. not that often you see a hottie in a sport top ice climbing... 'nuff' said right there...

and dont worry i am sure once the rock is free from its icy bondage your friend will return to the rightous rock!

I tried to teach a man how to rock climb once but he found an ice ax and it was over. Next time I saw him he was giving a slide show after doing K2 light and fast.

He had so much potential..............
