Dane Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 Click the week date signs and take a look at the east face of Liberty bell last week....looks like it is still winter up there to me. Also looks like the walk wouldn't be bad if you did a little hitching with the DOT or avalanche control crew. Now's the time obsydian. Quote
rbw1966 Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Its plowed to the Pass now but was raining all weekend. Quote
JoshK Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 Anybody think there is a snowball's chance in hell they'll have the road open this weekend? Quote
Billygoat Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 I was told, by a counter person in marblemount FWIW, that it is open but they are worried about avy danger and don't want to deal with the public yet Quote
klenke Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 The moment WSDOT opens the road over Washington Pass there will be a mad rush of CC.com gapers and sprayers to the area in hopes of making the first 2003 ascents. It will be similar to what happened on Chair Peak this winter. JoshK: I got dibs on the Southwest Couloir of SEWS. My gear has already been placed at the start of the climb (I cached an old oval biner and a inedible Power Bar there last autumn). Quote
Billygoat Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 Dood, I'm hitting Alex Plus, Self Storage, Lick The Boot, CJ O'Matic, and The Marquis Du Ski all in the first week, then I'll bop over to ski in... Quote

splittoe Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 North Cascade Highway is now open! (Almost a month earlier than last year!) http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/regions/northcentral/Maint/Area3/nc2003/ Quote
JoshK Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 Hey, anybody wanna do some climbing up there? We can take some dynamite and blow a few slides across the road to prevent anybody else from getting on our routes. Quote
wayne Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 It sounds like David wants to do it this weekend. What do ya say? Start a new thread? Climbers board. Quote
