    train hopping?

As in hoboing? Or Railpass? Remember, you can always go Greyhound...
  3. Uber Cool!
  4. Larry the Tool.
  5. Here's an interesting counterpoint to the bitching about the X1 http://www.telemarkskier.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000380
  6. Depends on your shape now, doesn't it? The Theta pant/bibs are awesome for winter climbing/skiing - not full bib height so you overheat, but not lowcut enough you get snow down the back. And they fit me perfect. Cloudveil does make great stuff - and are nice to deal with.
  7. It's really not that painful - easier than mounting 3 pin bindings. I used - paper bags, wax iron, and the brush that came with the skin glue. For wider skins you might want to use a wider brush to apply the glue.
  8. Mixed rock & snow is decidely not the right spot for AL crampons. Use the right tool for the job. Al crampons are great if you need to cross snow slopes occaisonally.
  9. Normally they would - but they were 2nds I got from the outlet - for $60. So I figure I shouldn't take Patagonia for anymore $
  10. My Guide Pants have are 7 years old now - with well over 500 days on them - including falls on rock, high speed ski wipeouts - hard wear. I wash them about every 6 months, and they are only now dying of old age (some of the stiching's pulling out, accumulated wear). That's more life than I could ever hope from most of my gear.
  11. Congrats man!
  12. Your the bastard who wears slalom gear for the liftline, aren't you?
  13. Over 200 climbers have died in the park. There's a memorial not to far from the Hermitage to some of them - sobering. Creepiest was the 4 who died when the hut they were sleeping in blew away

    Cherry Flavour Nyquil

Green Death Nyquil All The Way Pussy!
  15. I correct myself, it's "The Climb" http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0090851/
  16. You can order the footbeds from SOLE dirctly or buy them at a store. I molded mine at home. (10minutes or so at 200F)
  17. Remember if you spend over a certain amount (last I looked it was $300 or so) you can get the G.S.T refunded, so you should drop 15% or so from the price.
  18. Unless your some randoracing skinning star, I fail to see how you could beat someone at the top of their line. Taking of skins, adding shell, drink of water takes what, 5 minutes?
  19. The Ibex Icefall is made in China. I don't particularly consider Filson stuff performance wear, though it is nice. Icebreaker (Cool Softshell/Long Underwear stuff) is made in New Zealand. Last I heard Jagged Edge moved to Moab, then declared bankruptcy - but still had plans to make gear. Who knows.
  20. Tyrolia was Austria until WW1. Ever see "The Mountain"? Cool movie about the first ascent of NP.
  21. So's everyone else's stuff(except arc'teryx) They still have a store in Telluride http://www.jagged-edge-telluride.com/ They had some nice, well built stuff.
  22. Hmm. I've never seen a shortage of lines in "real backcountry", I rarely see people there. In the crowded frount country I see plenty. The front country's not that much work, if you snooze, you loose.
  23. You beat me to it. You wait, you're late.
  24. Maybe the ghost of Willy Merkl? What is it with German's and Nanga Parbat?
