Hey TG - Great TR. I don't know if I really suscribe to Greg W's "fuck everyone" else attitide when it comes to climbing. I do believe people can't change their most basic passions to suit someone's else's needs, but I also believe in balance and compromise, particularly as a kid whose father had a climbing and traveling addiction. Find your own balance, man and may it see you to the tops and bottoms of many beaufitul mountains (err ... women?) to come. And I'll tie in with you whenever you'll have me.

There was a sweet bike at the foot of Rocky Butte you could check out. We also saw some excellent "vinatge" clothing, several "used" mattresses, many "recycled" bottles and tons of "shared" needles. That place is a freakin' gold mine.

I thought the Stubais were about $150. I'll probably beat the hell out of whatever I get, so might as well go cheap as long as they'll stay on my foot. The Grivel's are step-in and I'm looking for something strap-on.

Anyone used these before? Climbaxe has 'em for about $100 less than the Stubain aluminums usually cost. The toe piece doesn't look as good but I bet they work fine. Any experience with 'em?

So with this system the rope goes from one bolt to the other and you don't clip an extra clove back at your harness? At Smith etc. I tend clip into one bolt with a Daisy, clove hitch the other and equalize. Maybe that's placing a lot of faith in the daisy.
