  1. I've got a Go Pro. Like others posting I like it. It's fairly simple to use. Video editing software and the editing process are where I experience the most problems. I use a microsoft program that I have on my computer, but there may be better ways of video file editing.

    Steep Snow

When your right leg gets tired just do a kick turn to work out your left leg.
  3. Nope, an old one. Now I really need a new set
  4. As long as you kept expectations low it was fun post Thanksgiving exercise. I was curious what the snowpack looked like too.
  5. Trip: Snoqualmie Mountain - Phantom Slide Date: 11/28/2010 Trip Report: Early season skiing can be exciting. With a limited base and almost no consolidation chances of skiing a sick line are low. Logs and rocks hide just below the top too. Jeff H and I decided to ski up the Phantom Slide on Snoqualmie Mountain with low expectations. Of course we kept talking about skiing the Slot The waterfall didn't look, "in." Navigating around the waterfall cliffs was exciting, and so was most of the lower uptrack. The clouds moved in and out on the way up. We got nice views of new snow. Alpental Jeff Upper ridgecrest Summit tower Sure enough the Slot didn't look like it had enough snow On the other hand there was nice snow facing south I did hook my pole on a log and break it early on, but the skiing was nice on the upper slope. The rest of the Phantom was kind of a jungle adventure, but a low snow pack can do that. It won't take much more snow to fill things in. Approach Notes: Go well to climbers left of the waterfall.
  6. In the 80s lots of climbers loved wearing tights. 80s Rock and Ice magazine advertisement

I've placed pickets a few times, but only as a last resort. As in we need an anchor but we have no other options. Rock Gear > Ice Gear (Placed in ice) >> pickets
  9. I don't have the endurance or time to read through all Jay's posts. I did laugh when he mentioned how he and or his gf had to buy new potting soil every year so they could, "farm." Apparently they don't understand the concept of soil management. As far as economics go less is less. Just because you don't have a perfect system doesn't mean you shouldn't make a few changes.
  10. The Yard Sale
  11. Things might be fair if each customer brought in last years tax return and last months bank statement to the store when shopping for shoes. After the clerk reviews the statements and performs a TSA style exam they tell the customer which isle they can purchase shoes out of.
  12. Pay a qualified dentist in your neighborhood to drill your teeth and fill cavities. Don't drive across town to visit the Dentaltron subsidiary in Behemoth Mall. I agree buying local can fall apart when you want to buy stuff like a car, but it works for lots of items.
  13. If you can afford $500 shoes you probably own your own house. House owners get a lot of deductions that renters don't get. The fellow who can only buy $20 shoes probably rents an apartment.
  14. Given your sales tax rate of 22% Let's say there are two income brackets. Bracket 1 income $20,000 buying $20 shoes Bracket 2 income $500,000 buying $500 shoes Taxes The Bracket 1 fellow pays $4.40 which is .022% of $20,000 The Bracket 2 fellow pays $110 which is .022% of $500,000 If you throw in a poor millionaire, or only $1,000,000 income, to the shoe club buying $500 shoes. The millionaire faces the same $110 tax, but now the tax is .011% of $1,000,000. To make taxes equal then the millionaire needs to pay $220 in tax for shoes. The millionaire needs to buy $1000 shoes. I don't know much about about shoes, but obviously the millionaire can buy any shoe he want. If he want he can buy the $20 shoes and only give the government $4.40. On the other hand the fellow in Bracket 1 has shoes which are trashed. If he wants manufactured shoes he can only buy the $20 shoes. Of course the Bracket 1 fellow could kill stray dogs then skin them and make leather for free shoes. That takes time and he needs to make that $20,000 I know incentive to work harder so everybody can be millionaires There aren't many jobs that pay that much, and in any case somebody still has to take out the trash, and mop the floors.
  15. Just imaging Palin-Rossi for President 2012. Palin can see Russia. I bet Rossi can see North Korea!

  17. The route they did on Logan was impressive.
  18. The Waddington hut is cool
  19. In an area that receives high use I'd agree it's better to select a site in the area then install a hut and some kind of waist management. Possibly via hauling out, or maybe some kind of simple on site mitigation. It would control human impact and avoid huge camping zones. Funding is obviously a toughy. Taxing everyone equally will never fly, at least these days. Paying for a pass, and or donating time for trail maintenance and other restoration projects to get a pass might work.
  20. I don't have an avalung, but I may buy one. Just like a transceiver it can help but it is not a guarantee.
  21. I used to make more than minimum wage. Now I work for TSA
  22. Smart college kids will just ask for an espresso maker for Christmas then if necessary con their 21+ buddy to buy beer. The new rules reward individual initiative. [img:center]http://images2.layoutsparks.com/1/234150/rainbow-puke-colours-drawing.gif[/img]
  23. Get one of these Ktrack Mountain biking + Skis You can retrofit your dirt bike too Snocycle Skidoos are last century
  24. Bring skis. Check weather and avy conditions. The White River entrance will probably be closed at the turn off to Crystal on 410. At least given the forecast for this winter. Better yet make sure Rainier is one of many options for April.
