ChairPeak/Snow Lake - Snow Lake Couloir 3/17/2011
AlpineK replied to David_Parker's topic in the *freshiezone*
There is some nice looking ice up there now. The north facing stuff might be preserved, but it is almost Spring. We were up by Snow Lake again yesterday. Air temperatures were pretty darn warm on south and east facing slopes. -
Suck my ginormous appendage!

Here are my pics -
HWY 2 has a long history of speed traps. Lots of little towns and changing speed limits.

Libya is fucked up, North Korea is fucked up. We've already invaded two fucked up countries and haven't gotten very far. More war is not the answer, besides we can't afford it. But mom I wanna new war...

A wingnut has two wings. You could describe the wings as the right and left wing. Obviously you don't like your other half.
-
j_b vs Jay. Congratulations you both are on the way to receiving the Golden Wingnut award.

Basically everything humans do is fucked up. Off hand I'd say nuke power is slightly less fucked up than burning coal. Over the long run that is.

Top rope serac climbing climbing on the Coleman glacier is a good intro to ice climbing. You can do that mid summer. Right now getting there is a bit difficult, and the ice is buried in snow. Glacier ice and waterfall ice have different characteristics, so you'll need to find waterfall ice to practice on. Given the weather conditions right now the best bet is going to Banff for a week. That might be cost prohibitive of course.

Remember to smile while taking every order. Hinting about super sizing is not required but encouraged

Sport Rappers are not climbers. Unless they release quality hiphop of course.

There aren't many places left where rope tow grippers are of any use. Since I just inherited a pair I thought I'd share. Closed on the top, open on the bottom. You keep them closed with hand pressure and they release when you let go. The cool ski tows are almost gone

Yet another Spray thread degenerating to You suck dickhead No you suck asswipe You suck more dickhead I know suck when I see it asswipe No matter what your political persuasion or beliefs you all look like idiots. Hey I've got an idea. Maybe y'all should got on a multi day climbing trip together, take youtube videos, then post a Trip Report. Now that would be good Spray/entertainment.

All the cool climbing hipsters used to live out of a VW Minibus. It's time to update your ride. [img:center]http://crave.cnet.co.uk/i/photos/50002971/vw-4193.jpg[/img] It's electric and comes with an iPad entertainment system. You only get 186 miles per charge, but like what's the hurry dude. http://crave.cnet.co.uk/cartech/vw-bulli-electric-minivan-promises-186-mile-range-and-integrated-ipad-50002971/ Better dump the old ride [img:center]http://benanderininabus.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/4698063568_d12528d2c1.jpg[/img] [img:center]http://farm1.static.flickr.com/12/14651036_9c5a81f376.jpg[/img] [img:center]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JWApT31X-dc/TDTU0TOiRNI/AAAAAAAADQ0/Tnaf3quVjxg/s1600/bus.jpg[/img]

Start by looking here: NW Avalanche Center There are some moderate risk places east of the Cascade crest and at a low altitude right now. On the west side everything is considerable or high risk. Getting out and seeing snow conditions first hand over the winter helps. The mountain snow pack had lots of Spring-like conditions; lots of hard or icy crust. Now there's a bunch of new snow siting on top of the layer. That's a good slab avalanche condition. The snow will gain stability eventually, but that will take time. For now tree skiing or going to a ski area would be a good choice.
