  1. I don't visit this forum too often, but I did see this post. I only get notifications on forums that list me as a moderator. No problems with the change unless my bosses in the lofty Administration Building come down on me.
  2. To be fair, if I was flying to the Canadian Rockies for pictures from Western Washington I'd probably pick a route that crossed the Bugaboos. My e-mountaineering experience tells me there ain't much granitic rock in the real Canadian Rockies.
  3. Engineers are really talented at producing charts and diagrams too. [img:center]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/91/System_Engineering_Functional_N2_Diagram.jpg[/img]

  5. Bubbles for President [video:youtube]
  6. My time killing guess is both Bachman and Santorum are closet Dead Kennedys fans. Kill the poor not fetuses [video:youtube]
  7. Don't know if it fits, but there are organizations like this Earthcorps
  8. Forecast involved regular monitoring. Monitoring = $$ and areas above 7- grand are accessed infrequently. Calling a park ranger at Rainier might yield more information, but I'd expect things to be more unstable than the avy level predicted at 7.
  9. It's a good year to start a caretaker business to help the rapture crowd feel less guilty about leaving their pets behind. Make sure to have them sign the line that says, "I understand refunds are not provided to clients in the event the rapture does not occur."
  10. My first and last review of the video involved looking at the length of the program. Once I saw 28:15 I decided it was a waist of my time. Not that I don't waist time but come on I'm sure there's a ton of stuff in the wacko category of YouTube with lengths of 2:00
  11. Friends and I climbed the Cassin Ridge in 1987. We summited on July 1 and descended the West Ridge. At the medical camp at 14 we met this guy who was hot to solo the Cassin. We told him the NE fork of the Kahiltna had a lot of scary crevasses to cross and they were probably bigger and badder then when we crossed them. We told him to at least find a party to rope up with while ascending the NE fork. A month later I got a call from a Denali Park ranger. He had heard we talked to the guy and wanted to know what his plans were and where he was headed. I told him what I knew and ask why he was curious. Apparently they found tracks going into a giant debris pile in the NE Fork but none exiting. Rainier ain't Denali but having a long hard think about what your skill level really is and why you have to solo the mountain doesn't hurt.
  12. What about down by the Green River. They cleaned the place up. [img:center]http://media.oregonlive.com/books_impact/photo/green-river-killer-jpg-9b4abaf531ba9f91.jpg[/img]
  13. How much extra weight is that shovel? I assume an ice axe isn't a disposable part of climbing gear of course. [img:center]http://www.grivel.com/upload/products/rescue/3/varianti/7/7_l.jpg[/img]
  14. and a snow saw. Or for less weight (and energy expenditure) you could just bring a tent. If you are climbing/skiing in winter or spring conditions you should have a snow shovel no matter what. A snow saw is nice too. Once you include the tent you are adding weight to the load you have to haul
  15. Issaquah Missoula similar? In the 70s maybe. No way no how these days.
  16. I planned a ski trip on the 24th. After a couple 6AM calls we wimped out.
  17. Santa ask me to give you a venue change for this TR. It looks like a ski cabin, but I don't see skiing related text or pictures of skiing. Adding comments or, "Advice," in Spray seems like the way to go. 18. I'd agree with bone that guitarists like Eddy V are technically competent. On the other hand by the time VH was hot, mainstream rock was nearing the end of the line. How may times can you watch white boy traveling circuses rehash formula rock. The Beetles, Stone, and Who among others are great bands. On the other hand by the era of the 70s it's a was a lot more interesting to see white boys mixing their musical heritage of classical or... with music of American black history. At least it is entertaining. Hey they dress funny, What the hell are they talking about [video:youtube]
  19. It does look like he is posting on CC from a remote location.
  20. Looks like a ski cabin, but I don't see skis or boards. Hmmm
  21. If you want full on crazy move to Cle Elum and commute every day. Some people do this I'd agree with the earlier comment on living close to where you work. Moving from a small town to a large city can be a shock at first, but commuting every day will beat you down. Beacon Hill or Baker Ridge south to Columbia City might work. You can get water or mountain views. Save driving for trips to the mountains. DPS's comments on commuting via bus from Issaquah sound good too.
  22. AlpineK

    Very powerful.

I was wondering why Kev didn't include those two.
  23. The book is fantastic. I love mine
