  1. Nothing is too stupid for spray Trask
  2. I would say that limb is more likely to fail during a heavy loading event: wind, ice, snow. It is a good example of how trees can grow around constrictions.
  3. I think a real IQ test would take a couple hours not 15 min.
  4. My pickup is my least macho rig
  5. I remember that test. That was the final straw for old Tomcat. He blew a fuse when the test said everyone was smarter than him, then he got banned for good Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

  8. We use things called friction savers, 2 metal rings and a piece of webbing. If you used those, rappelling would get expensive fast. When we use them there are rigging techniques to get them out of the tree without having the device fall to the ground and become damaged however I could see this becoming a possible nightmare situation on a long climb with multiple rapps. Basicly you can use Dale's set up if it makes you feel good, but I'll still be using the clasic method.
  9. A friend of mine, who snoboards, bought a split board and hated it. I've never seen him on skis either.
  10. I believe the problem we have is Bush and Cheney being owned by the oil industry. Eventually insurance companies are going to start getting pissed when enough of their profits go to pay for cleaning up extreme weather events. For those of you who can't wait for warm weather around here try and remember that our consistant supply of drinking water and hydro power are directly related to the snow pack in the cascades. I hope you enjoy paying for fancy bottled water to flush your toilet.

  12. If you think everyone who posts here sucks and the mods are even worse then why do you keep posting? If you don't care why do you even respond?
  13. Catbird is right
  14. It would kill the tree. Not necissarily. I've seen a number of trees that can grow around constrictions. You will create a weak structural point on the tree if the tree grows around the sling, but you don't always kill them. When you place a rap anchor around a tree you don't sinch it tight to the bark (you would never get your rope back). Most people tie the sling long. If you do this it's going to take a long long time before the tree comes close to being girdled especially when you concider how slow growing alpine trees are. I would say that Dru is right snaffles will chew it off or it will rot.
  15. To Dave's credit, I hear he pays fairly for gas.

Muffy rules. She's nice, and cute to boot.
  17. If your not going to invite everyone to the debauchery then send a pm.
  18. I seems to me that if things keep going the way they are right now that PP's prediction is right. However that doesn't mean I'm not going to vote or anything. I'll vote for the canidate with the greatest chance of beating GW; be it Dean, Clark, or whoever. The fact of the matter is that GW is an asswipe who is bent on wrecking: The environment Relations with foriegn countries Our civil rights The federal budget Also if he gets elected again he's going to stack the courts with a bunch of neo-facist pig fuckers. Fuck Bush
  19. Yes, here's the view from the upper bowl nice huh.
  20. Cman and I skied up under the east face of Chair Peak today. Things were looking good when we left Seattle, but as we got up high in the Snoqualmie river valley you could see the clouds at the pass. Sure enough the Alpental death fog was there to greet us. We followed a well beat out track to Source Lake and then some snowshoe tracks above. We eventually ran into the snowshoers, John Sharp and friend, and chatted for a bit. Skinning into Chair peak bowl went fairly well, but we were soon confused by the white out below the peak. Originally we were going to ski to Snow Lake, but the clouds made us change our minds, so we skied back down to Source lake. The snow was fantastic, and we had great skiing through the trees below the upper basin, but the lack of depth perception on the slopes above Source lake sucked. There were a ton of people below the lake. I remember distinctly almost running down two women and their dogs who decided to take a lunch break in the middle of the trail...idiots. All and all it was better than hanging out in town.
  21. It gets better, just keep watching
  22. WTF, we have to pay to ski in the backcounrty now? Sorry Dave.
