I like the above idea of renting a couple different set ups before you commit to buying. I also agree that good boots are the shiznitz. I've found that the heat to fit liners are worth the extra money(if your boots don't come with them) Also I'd agree with Ian. You've gotta decide just what kind of bc skier you are. At first spending a lot of time on the lifts is a good thing, but eventually you may want to bc ski most of the time. If you want spend most of your time mogul bashing and jumping then go for the beefier bindings, however if you're not doing that don't be put off by the lightweight bindings (dynafit) they're a lot burlier than they look. I dismissed them for years as being too fragile, but you can do most anything you want in them, and they are super light.

This is a better spot for this thread. I don't recall the name, but I'll ask him when he's back from vacation.

Except ski patrollers, and avy techs, and guides, and well, a few other people I can think of... if you call that work. I always used heavy rubber or nylon for real work. Most outdoor work involves getting dirty and exposure to gas and oil. Tex wont stand up to that kind of treatment. I've always wanted to try whatever that raingear that's canvas impregnated with wax. Cotton is the fabric of the future after all.

Wow Kurt, what a burn! You're showing the thought and debating skills that propelled you from the back of the short bus, all the way to the Captaincy of the Fircrest School Debate Squad! I bet Rolf is crying, you got him so bad. I didn't know I was being graded. I could see you running a business that is until you found out you actually had to do something instead of talking all day on your cell phone. You might want to stock up on helmets. There's lots of frustrating things that happen when you run the show which you'll deal with by flinging you helmet off the building your working on and throwing a temper tantrum...just like big4

He should be there. -
I hear the unemployment rate for Muslims living in France is around 60%. They aren't helping themselves by rioting, and it isn't right, but it's not suprising that they riot. France needs to put them down and then try and do something about their unemployment problem.

more like a jackbooted fascist pig-rigger hanger-on. You're upset cause your business model is based on illegally subcontracting to capitalists.

That's it you're not invited over to my sand box.

Grundens for yuppy sailors. Go to Salmon Bay Sand and Gravel. All they've got is Helly in either yellow or green. I've got some Sandvik rubber boots too. Sandvik sucks. Get Extratuffs. You obviously haven't spent time in the North Sea. Do your extratuffs have a vibrum sole, and kevlar chainsaw proof shin guards...I don't think so.

I just got a certified letter today saying I've paid off my dump truck which means I own all my machinery outright. I control the means of production. I think I'll spend the evening looking for some proletariat to put down.

I was working outside all day today. The rain let up for an hour or two. I've been in full rubber jacket mode for three days this week. Not goretex(fuck that yuppy shit) I'm talking Helly Hansen. Here's to true NW experiences.

That was one of my favorite books as a mini. I hope they don't fuck it up. I've also read CS's Out of the Silent Planet trilogy. Both have a lot of christian symbolism in them, but they're good stories, and I don't think CS Lewis would think too much of todays christian fundamentalist freaks.

I spent one or two seasons snowboarding, but I went back to skiing. I did start because I wanted to try something new. Snowboarding is pretty fun as long as you're going down something steep. I never liked it on the flats though.

The World's Highest Gig- Muir on Saturday Trounced
AlpineK replied to Thinker's topic in Climber's Board
Before Muir on Saturday CC.com was just some dumb web site I'd read every so often. Now it's a dumb website I read all the time. Thanks Scott...I think. -
Their web site says they have a 9" base. There is suppose to be a bunch of snow today...we'll see. I'm sure all the areas are desperate to open. I predict a handfull of open groomers and rocks. I can't get the webcam image to work, but here's the link you want to check link
