Never set foot on the Nepal side of Everest and haven't taken the time to read the article. You can reach the north side of North Gardner via Cedar Creek road and trail. I did one dulfersitz at a Mounties climbing class in the 70s, and we did do a short one on a ski traverse a few years back. Don't forget to mention the dulfersitz when a newbie asks you about different methods of rappelling. Just make sure to tell them to wear thick and cheap clothing.

Fairy Meadows Hut is a great place to go! My only regret is not traversing to and staying at the Sir Sanford Hut.

Line of site is the magic rule. Once you reach a high elevation radios work like a charm. We talked to Talkeetna from 16 grand without problems. Low on the Kahiltna, mountains and ridge lines get in the way. The radio at Kahiltna base has a repeater or booster.

If I remember correctly one of the park service rules for Denali climber is you must carry a radio. Don't worry you can get one in Talkeetna prior to flying in. Aside from that there's a radio where you land on the Kahiltna and several at the 14 grand medical station. The park service can give you more info if you're going in from the Wonder Lake side. Of course if you need to constantly update your Facebook status none of the radios will help
