  1. Exactly. Don't flatter yourself catbird. I don't place that much value on your opinions.

    blondie

    You couldn't be more wrong.
  3. Took a 100 foot slider down the eliot glacier ripping one of my partners off his feet and was stopped by a single screw. No damage to screw; few cracked ribs on me. Fell about 20 feet on a screw on a short ice pitch at Ski Bowl. No damage to screw; minor rope burn on finger. Never had one pull but have placed them where I wasn't too confident they'd hold. But haven't we all?
  4. I was about 8 at the time and a long ways from knowing anything about climbing. In my ignorance I missed out on the beauty of Prescott.
  5. I lived for about a year in Prescott in the 70's. God I hated that place. I was a little kid though and longed for the verdant forests of the NW. I'm friends with Tom Jones, a.k.a. Jrat. Super great guy. And I'm also friends with one of the best brewers the NW has known but I bet he denies it. If I can ever hold my hand steady enough to take a picture I may have photographic proof but that Terminal Gravity stuff is like liquid psylocibin.

    Hey Ehmmic!

What's green and smells like pork?
  7. Sounds like a real sausage fest is brewing up at Roger's pad. Shaggadelic.
  8. Weird Science.
  9. This is not entirely correct. The Bibler I have has a pocket for the poles on the sides as well as reinforced corners. If you miss the reinforced corners where the poles place then yeah you can punch a hole into the floor--which I did once and which Bibler (i.e. Black Diamond) repaired, seam-sealed and returned to me within 24 hours.
  10. The bombshelter sleeps 4 but it would be pretty tight. Three of us used it comfortably. Two guys are roomy and there is plenty of space for gear. Two vestibules as well. Asking $500 for it.
  11. I have a bibler bombshelter for sale. Might be a bit much for your purposes but if you are interested PM me. I have an ad in the yard sale.
  12. Had sex with a famous rock stars wife; they got divorced shortly thereafter. Hung out with Penny Lane a couple of times. Drank beers with the former drummer for the Foo Fighters at the Monkey. Shook hands with Casper Weinberger. Rubbed one out by the terwilliger curves at Winter's request.
  13. I have a BDEL alpine shirt made of schoeller material. Had it about a year now and wear it daily whilst riding my bike to and fro work. Its washed once a week so taht makes a total of about 50 or so washings. Water still beads just fine on it and unless its a full-on rain I generally stay dry. I love schoeller for its stretchiness, durability and wind and water repellancy. Its not perfect but in my opinion its certainly better than wearing a gtx shell. I only throw my shell on now when its really windy and rainy.
  14. Upper gorge usually stays fry and yes the tuff gets friable when wet--more so than when dry.
  15. I'm having a hard time putting together Pope's assertion that bolts are cowardly and his admission that he bolted a route in Leavanworth. Are you a hypocrite or what?
  16. Michael Jackson may just be the embodiment of everything the muslim world finds evil in America.
  17. Done! Make sure you stop by my place first so you can rock out to the Counting Crows as you satiate your blood lust. What a perfect soundtrack.
  18. Good Lord, you are either very unlucky or live in a bad neighborhood. That's got to be pretty hard to take. Bike thieves, car thieves and horse thieves all should be treated the same. Hang 'em high. All three bikes were stolen from bike racks in downtown Portland. The Bontrager was stolen from a rack not 20 feet from where a security guard sat 24/7. His response "I'm not paid to watch your bike." Now I rent a bike locher. Out of sight, out of mind.
  19. 1-Gary Fisher tassajara 1-Bianchi road bike Stolen from me (in order): Diamondback Topanga POS Bontrager that I'd just shelled out 2K Gary Fisher hoo koo e koo
  20. Speaking from experience, if you don't use it you lose it. I can appreciate how someone who doesn't practice wilderness medicine (or any emergency medicine) would lose their skills in a years time. After I stopped working as an EMT my skills evaporated.
  21. Newton Creek, Mt. Hood.
  22. I'll be doing some climbing in the Slovak Tatras over Christmas.
  23. Watch the avy conditions!
  24. Familiar experience? Stay away from the pipe.
  25. I would think I-rock has ice on it now with all the freeze-thaw we've had. Tons of snowfall in the last couple days. Avy conditions may be an issue. Do a search to learn more about optimal conditions for the other routes. Wayne's posted plenty of helpful info.
