  1. i agree with iain - most 'organized' religion indeed 'sucks'. the more 'organized' religion becomes, the more entrenched it becomes in the triviality of the human race. in this same vein, the more religion becomes entrenched in the whims of humans, the more it strays from absolute purity or divinity. politics, government, society - all these things cloud religion or faith in a higher power, especially in an organized context. i guess the question i pose is whether the intolerance of extermist muslims is historically any different or worse than the intolerance of extermist christians? both have a history of violence/dominance against those who don't agree with their doctrine. intolerance, in my opinion, is wrong regardless of how it is executed. eastern religions, such as buddhism, are the best organized religions in my opinion. they promote tolerance and acceptance of other religions/cultures as long as those religions/cultures obey basic principles of compassion, respect, love, etc... in other words, unlike many christians, buddhists generally don't care if you're not a buddhist. in other word, if you're a not a buddhist, you're not automatically classified a heathen and destined to an eternity in hell. interesting topic, son of caveman. 2. just for the record, i could give a shit about either the pussies (WSU) or the puppies (UW)... i'm much more amazed by the quickness of cc.com spray!
  3. hahaha... you're fucking quick my friend. i happened to be online when the game ended, so i cruised over to see how quick cascadesprayers really are. nice work.
  4. well put dbb. flash is a great resource for tutorials, displaying product features, etc - specific targeted uses that will benefit from interactivity, motion and sound. with a handful of limited exceptions, whole flash sites are generally overkill. at least people are finally getting over flash intros. now if designers would just stop resizing my fucking browser and using so many damn popups...
  5. not to mention that there are a lot of dipshit designers out there who are more interested in playing with bells and whistles than effectively communicating a brand or product. flash can be a great enhancement, but i'd still say that 75% of people still use it badly.
  6. freeclimb9, being a web developer, i'd estimate that a site like smartwool.com would probably take a competent web team at least a month to build. complex projects like that take can take longer, however. it just depends on the firm. the cost of having a site like that built professional would run in the tens of thousands of dollars, especially for that caliber of work. like iain said, the site was built in flash. it probably also has some back end programming for the product listings and retail locator. it's a nice site, although i get tired of that little bastard chasing my mouse back and forth!
  7. yeah, what's a 'MOMORAIL'? now, what about I-5, 99, 420, 520...?
  8. and you can thank our current president (and his daughters) for teaching your 8 year old about drug and alcohol abuse and underage drinking.

  10. i was thumbing through an old climbing magazine this morning and read an article about looking glass mtn, which is north of ashville. apparently its got a ton of trad routes and is considered the aid climbing nucleus of the southeast. if you're into bouldering, boone is a little farther north and supposedly has excellent bouldering. cheers,
  11. i'm getting drunk tonight with my wife and some friends and going bowling. that will surely be the highlight of my weekend. next week, however, i hope to go climb some new stuff...
  12. the first pitch of godzilla was cool, especially because chuck rope gunned me up it since i'm a pussy! what about the second pitch of city park? now that's a killer pitch - sweet jams and the mantle move is great!!! thanks again to chuck for dragging my ass up that one too!

  15. watch out... here comes the SPRAY POLICE! (d'oh! - DFA beat me to this photo in the spray logo thread...) [ 11-14-2002, 08:20 AM: Message edited by: offwidthclimber ]
  16. camelback mtn is right in the middle of phx. it's generally referred to as petrified mud, but there's some good bouldering near the trailhead, especially if you're short of time. south mountain, just south of phx/tempe apparently has a ton of rock. i never bouldered there. queen creek, as everyone mentioned, has tons of rock. i've bouldered a couple different areas there. tuff rock - prepare for shredded tips. there's bouldering near prescott and up at flagstaff too. the arizonabouldering link Sargent Rock posted is a great resource and there's some more photo/info at http://www.azclimbing.com/ too. have fun!
