excellent post Scott. I think it makes sense that the US government pays for these cats to do this job. The Iraqi Government and the press singling out and sensationalizing this story in that environment reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Apocolyse Now: "Charging someone with Murder here is like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500".

So with actual proof that some kind of weapon exists, France is willing to do something other than stand on the sidelines and watch? Amazing.
  7. As a dad and as a climber this dude ought to be strung up by his gonads. I got an e-mail today from someone who posts here about a climbing incident regarding a guy with two 10 year olds. I hope he sanitizes the e-mail and posts it here. Totally frickin' irresponsible!

Interesting. I thought of you when I read the article today. So these guys and other security firms work under contract to the US Govt' and have to be licensed or otherwise blessed by the Iraqi Govt to operate in country? Just out of curiosity, if they are under contract to the US Govt' and an incident occurs like the one in the article at what point does Iraqi Law allow the victims families to go after either BW or the US Govt'? What kind of law is there in Iraq right now? My curiosity comes from working in Government contracting and some liability issues we've been looking at.
  9. John Kruk, rotund former baseball player was once chided by a woman because of his cherubic physique. Something about not looking like an athlete to whoch her replied "hey lady, I'm not an athlete, I'm a ball player".

Well we can be sure that whoever wrote it isn't from Enumclaw or Spanaway. Not one mention of bestiality. So if it's between two humans and one animal or two animals and one human, is it a threesome?

    what a dolt!

yeah but then you'd have some fucktard like Abraham Lincoln come along and re-unite the divided states.
  15. A cruising republican congressman or a raging democratic congressman freshly in the news would have kept this story from being a story. Was that fair and balanced?

  21. I'm very embarrassed. I checked the homepage. He named me as a jug tugger or something like that. Seems my politics are way left. I guess way left of him, which makes me something, maybe way left of him.
  22. I'll face facts, you guys are way smarter than I am. Yes, they knew what the possibilities were, both in the National Guard and in the Reserves. That doesn't mean they really want to be there. Sacrifice comes when you give up your freedom and choice for duty. And I respect that. If there were a draft, I'm sure that those that got us into this war would figure out a way to keep their kids out of it. After all, history does repeat.
  23. No, I won't take that bait. Many people join the military because it's their only viable option to make something of themselves. You'll find a much higher percentage of that category than the "I'm gonna go kick some terrorist ass" pshycographic in the military. Believe me, I talk to many of them fairly often. How about Bush, Cheney, Rove. Did any of them serve and/or see combat during a time of non-voluntary military duty? I didn't think so. They are willing to send their country to war but aren't willing to go fight the fight themselves. I'm not comparing kids to money. I'm comparing willingness to sacrifice for your cause. If these folks really believe that EVERY american needs to do their patriotic duty, let's see them put their kids in harms way. There are lots of patriotic Americans that would and have.
  24. I see. Edwards and most Dems are champions of the poor; therefore they should sacrifice personal wealth for that cause. As soon as Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, et al send some of their kids over to Iraq I'll personally capaign for anyone who champions the poor to sacrifice some or all of their personal wealth.
  25. I don't know, seems like keeping a bunch of open space as opposed to subdividing and cramming 150 McMansions on that property is the more environmentally friendly thing to do.
