  1. Real icy and wet towards the top on Sunday. The glissading down lower was reeeeeeal nice
  2. the week I get the hardware out of my knee...
  3. the 41 and mostly sunny forecast was way off. It was wet and icy. The snow lower is packed down on the trail and there was only a little post-holing on the way down after it warmed up; none at all on the way up before sunrise. Off the boot pack would be a stumble-fuck w/o floatation. skipped the slowshoes and glad I did. threw on the 'pons at the last of the trees.
  4. I am heading up there in the morn for one more peak before me hardware removal surgery on Wednesday. Has anyone been up there in the past couple days? I am mostly wondering if I need the slowshoes or if I can 'pon from the car w/o post holing like dick in an 82nd ave hooker. I knows its going to be slushy and wet, but I can't ski with this hardware in anyway. Thanks in advance!
  5. I am headed up there on Monday, if anyone is up there between now and then I would love to hear what the snow pack is looking like after the dumpage we are supposed to be getting. Ballzy heading up there after so little skiing. Way to go after it and as most of them said, stay safe. I noticed in your gear notes you thought you should get ski crampons... I have found the 'pons for you boots are much more useful, imo. If I can't make the switchbacks happen and just want to go up, ski crampons won't do that for you as well as taking off the skis and slapping on some 'pons will. I personally can't warrant having a piece of gear that tailored to one thing when I can get something else that does the job and more. Again, this is just my opinion and I don't have the experience that others around here do, thats for sure.
  6. If I had any of the equip... go get it!
  7. After being there this summer, I don't think I can miss it. thanks for the heads up
  8. I don't suppose my snowmen where still out there, eh?
  9. Wow! you gave him way more of a break than I would have... I'd have shaved that wookie clean, using his stick clip of course; I wouldn't want to touch that nasty looking piece of work... way to keep it classy
  10. I am not so big on ropes indoors (outdoor trad envy), but I have been hitting up the Circuit (the new one right near PRG) and will be there today. I have a pass out there so I am there a few times a week getting uber pumped on the V1's Let me know if that sounds good, nine fifty two 8O7 sixty three seventy five ~Adam
  11. Its a good deal for sure. It does expire the end of January so you can't stock up for yourself. Their new location in NE is pretty sweet. Old Woody rips at your cuticles almost as well as the real stuff. I particularly like all the top-out problems; due to a bunch of hardware in my knee I can't fall as gracefully as I once could.
  12. Sorry to here about the bad luck. Worse for them climbing on bad karma... I have a feed on CL climbing gear up here in PDX and haven't seen anything, but I will keep an eye out.
  13. Did anyone make it out to the trail buildings? I was scheduled for the first two (those got cancelled due to some fucking falcons *pun intended*), but didn't make to the one that actually happened because I was on a Phishing trip. I know that they weren't planning on opening till this spring, but with the spring falcon nesting I doubt we'll see it "open" anytime soon. The birds aren't up there now...
  14. Earlier is better since it would be nice to see the route in the daylight before heading up. I can be up there anytime after noon. Say 3ish, or earlier. I think sunset is about 1630 right now.

  16. My (technical) tools are out on loan right now (I do have my alpine ax, but I don't think that will help me much) or I would take you up on that for tomorrow (I have most of the day). I have my 'pons and boots...
  17. no free soloing the pinnacle with all that fresh snow?! how could you give up a death wish like that?!
  18. oh shit is right; glad to see you made it back in one piece. conditions are starting to look good out there. got to get up there one of these days. How'd the Sisters look from up there?

  22. I haven't seen any oysters out this way yet, but good to know there is another mushroom I don't have to learn about and can still harvest out here. Thanks for the info!
  23. Agreed, although I do still enjoy the trip reports to place I will never make it. Keep at it!
  24. Nice pics. I have been meaning to familiarize myself with the fungi out here; I was in the Tillamook Forest this past weekend and saw all sorts of new mushrooms that I knew nothing about. I am confident back in the Mid-west, but I won't eat anything besides Morels out this way. Any book recommendations you might have are greatly appreciated.
