  1. Laid-back style of belaying?!? Is he using the "Hollywood" belay method?
  2. When the winds are high and I've just put my follower on belay I like to yell "moron you're gay" and then listen to hear him respond with "climbing."
  3. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself for that... your head is in the right place!
  4. How's the 'schrund opening up? Looks like its gaping from the lodge...
  5. That's the spirit! Nicely done. I love seeing pictures of this climb - the summit ridge is just awesome!
  6. The sad reality of the adventures we pursue as climbers, but one that is accepted at the onset of such endeavors... Copp was living to do what he wanted to do, and that was climb the big stuff. No shame in his death, but he will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him. Let's just pray that Dash and Johnson are only lost...
  7. Bear with you?!? That TR wasn't that bad! A bit short maybe, but not everyone is as long-winded as ivan! Nice work man!
  8. Somewhere, Kerouac is smiling!
  9. clearly you have not mastered the art of leading w/ cig in mouth! makes you feel oh-so-french But can you still be holding the cig should you peel? That would really make one french...
  10. WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!!! Naw, only jerkin yer rope! I can imagine it... How was the weather?
  11. Not trying to speak for the originator of the post, but, belaying off the anchor with an autoblock leaves the top-belayer free from any pull of a fall, whereas if you belay off your harness the pull will come directly on you.
  12. Nasty little things! The shadow pic was pretty cool. Nice job!
  13. No kidding, huh? Bet you can't find those at pottery barn...
  14. Nice pics, looked like a good time!
  15. I remember that day on Wounded Knee... You took quite a tumble, Bill - so I heard.
  16. I will think about it. Since you are not even to 100 posts (as backclipped)....I will give you this advice. Spray hard when you can. It might be all you have. You guys crack me the fk up! I find that when I spray to people that have no clue about climbing I get a certain amount of satisfaction from being more hard-core than them Then I go and play with all my gear and tell myself how cool I am!
  17. Yeah, so - obviously - I will never climb anything like that. I can feel the pucker factor engaging right now and I was just reading and looking at the pics - WTF? Fuck it! I'm giving up on climbing!
  18. Agreed. And in addition, Portland runs into this problem with a few of its local crags and if you plan to go out on a saturday or sunday you might find yourself having been sandbagged by a bunch of toproppers that were there since daybreak! Whatever, I guess. But the crags in Portland do not (to the best of my knowledge) have a reservation list and everything is first come, first served. It may seem selfish but one wouldn't think so if they beat the classes and stayed all day in one spot working a route!
  19. Leuthold's is a shooting gallery this time of year - glad you made it back safely!
