  1. I have to agree that Schoeller fabric is amazing. Worth every penny. On softshells, I think softshells really shine when its wet conditions close to freezing and the wet seeps thru your outer shell. Seems not needed as much and restrictive when its colder. I will wear a softshell sometimes when there might be light rain or mist, and I don't want to carry 2 jackets.
  2. Seamstress, This goes without saying..
  3. Absolutely - the name of the game with this crew is they don't want anything discussed publicly and especially not how they really feel about it all. Being public and honest would require they actually be willing to entertain mutual respect for the land managers, develop a shred of honest concern for the Peregrines, and be willing to act in an open, upfront and honest manner in their dealings regarding Beacon. That picture is unfortunately, the antithesis of the honest truth of the matter and after eight years of horseshit and one lie after another out there it just gets to the point of calling a spade a spade. The above by Joseph is of course absolutely false, and is a small example of how he operates. Beware if he takes an interest in your crag or in the access or raptor closure issues in your area.
  4. I have no reason to lie Joseph. You weave a web of bullshit and deceit however and it's all catching up to you.
  5. How am I lying? If you were not instrumental in getting it closed, then what is it you did exactly? I'm sure everyone would love to know the TRUTH, and get to know the real you. For the THIRD time, what about the Totem Pole closure?
  6. Again, what about the Totem Pole? Are you denying that you were instrumental in getting it closed to climbing?
  7. Great example of a guy who says one thing, but behind the scenes does something completely different. Tell us the story of how you got the Totem Pole closed to climbing Joe.
  8. Dave, aren't you at Frenchmans this weekend? How goes the climbing????
  9. The guy jugging with the one jumar was a cameraman/rigger who made his own calls.
  10. The thing about avalanches is that they don't really care how much experience you have. All you can do is watch the conditions, and pick and choose, hopefully for the best. Very sad news.
  11. Denali Dave goes after it 2 weekends in a row, and Ivan is up at 6 am. Dang, downright inspiring!
  12. We better get our Woody Goombah on! Great news, thank you.
  13. Should a guy that doesn't wear a helmet at Beacon Rock lecture other people about safety? That's using your head. Great video, I think we should try to find a place at Beacon where we can set up a swing like this, way to much fun!!!
  14. The Gorge contingent watched it out at Ricks house, and had popcorn and cold ones. What a great 9 minutes by Oregon Field Guide! Its what we needed to give Beacon some fame, and get more climbers and folks out there enjoying it!
  15. There is 0% chance of dying climbing if you're not climbing.
  16. He didn't answer my question in the original post Gene. He modified it to include other places after the fact. To me it doesn't make sense to start a thread titled 2012 Bird Closures, request it to remain sprayfree, and then just list two widely seperated closure areas and not others.
  17. What is the purpose of this thread? Is it to make people aware of raptor closures? If so, why so incomplete? Whats the point?
  18. Dave, it appears that fall was good for you and knocked some sense into you.
  19. Dave, we should remind each other not to climb shit when its wet. AND CHOSSY
  20. I climb to LIVE, not to die. I backed off a climb this week, just to slimey and wet and the gear questionable. You got to know when to say when, which is probably also why I don't drink anymore.
  21. Superduper climb! Had to be more excitement then you mention?
  22. That windy makes it interesting.
  23. The best pair of skis is the ones having the most fun! Thats what Im talking!
  24. Spending the night in the west face cave is the way to go, tons of fun, but bring a haulbag to seal your food away from the rascally rats!
  25. Great job sending! The Silent Partner works great in cold weather. It may not work as well in wet conditions or if the rope becomes coated with water or ice.
