  1. Did I do it right?
  2. This is an important project. I donated some cash. Not a lot but I am in. This a great story that needs to be told. Here is the easy link to donate: http://kck.st/f1tue2 Jeff Lowe has given so much to the climbing community lets jump in and help make this happen.
  3. You lucky bastard. Have a great time.
  4. "The Climb up to Hell" - Jack Olsen was excellent also. Some great history and really well researched. Focused on the first successful rescue from the top of the Eiger in the 50's
  5. I will have to get that Ascent. Yeah Willi was a bad ass for sure.
  6. O.K. Steve which books are you voting for? Hanging chads will not be counted.
  7. I am with ya Ben. All the way to the top. Let's prove all those bastards wrong. I have a problem driving in the Gorge too. If I only trusted my wife to drive....
  8. No. You can get them added to the list by getting 3 votes from other CC members.
  9. If it gets three votes it goes on the list. Start your campaign. Make it two votes! Jim OK. That's cool one more vote and it goes on the list. BUT! We have too many books. We need to vote some OFF!! Here are the rules. I want books off the island! Now that we have a list of 129 we will need to refine it to 100 books. The way this will work is kinda like Survivor. 5 votes and a book comes off the list. OFF THE ISLAND! To add a new book to the list only takes 3 votes. I didn't add all the books on Jello's list of his library. My wife says her book must stay on the list and is immune to vote off. I disagree even though Magnificent Mountain Women is a good book from an historical perspective. So to appease her it will take 6 votes to vote this book off the island. IT's OUTTA MY HANDS NOW! Let the voting begin!

  11. Which book title?
  12. I think I have read about a 1/3 of them. Maybe I should climb more?

  17. Just called Rick he is dubious about making the trip out there. We were at Rocky Butte today dry tooling on the lower wall at the top of the Butte. It was more like wet tooling in rock shoes. We set up a top rope and we each did 3 laps. Rick did another wearing his work boot. Much harder that way. Basically hauled himself up with his arms. But that is the way he climbs most of the time.
  18. Do they close that road in the winter?
  19. Great I idea Bill about Coethedral. But how are we going to get there? Do you have a snowmobile in the basement that I can borrow. Wait!!!! ...... Rick has a badass truck. NEVER MIND!
  20. You might want to read "Enduring Patagonia" first. Enduring Patagonia
  21. Started up Flying Dutchman. The crux was just getting on it. The rain came down in 20 gallon buckets. I tried to go straight up from my anchor to the right of the small tree. Tried to do a hook move on the slabs and the flake blew. Fell on a #2 micro nut. My belay anchor held. I tried some other tricks and then had to down climb and go up to the left. I put in another #2 mirco nut as my first piece. That is when Steve called me as I was trying to get the next piece in. I was shooting for the next tree. I had to put in another nut to get up to it. Then I was trying to do a stupid rope trick by trying to lasso the tree with my cordlett. I resolved that it would be better to make a free move and just get up there. That is when the windows of heaven opened as I was in the middle of the sketch move. Made it to the tree and after that it was easy. I made it past the first three fixed pins used a couple of hook moves to get to the rap anchor. I even used a cam hook. Sweet! Then I bailed off on the rap anchor to the left. Jugged my rope and cleaned the gear. I have a fixed line I will use to finish it later. It was raining so hard when I got back to my car I could barely see it. I borrowed a kayak paddle jacket from Ben. It keep the water from running down my arms but I was soaked with sweat. Fun time though.
  22. I am going out to solo aid something in my new paddle jacket that I borrowed so I can try to stay dry. Call if any would like to join the slug fest. 503-706-5315 leave a message I will call u back
  23. As performed by Emily my daughter. She is dancing the traditional ice dance to call the ice into the Columbia River Gorge. Ice Dance!
  24. Think cold thoughts. I need more ice.
  25. DAMN IT. CRAP. Now I am mad. Well maybe I was before. AHHHHHHHH!!!!! I was planning a trip that is now canceled. But seriously thanks for the recon!!
