Actually, if you read the full weather discussion that this was from, here , they are more concerned that it will develop into a wind storm. Pineapple Express Death typically comes straight up from the southwest, forming over warm waters and bringing high freezing levels. This low would track (supposedly) closer to AK before coming to us. Coupled with forecast FL's of 6500', we could see some flooding but it should generally bring snow at higher elevations, nothing like the scenario of last Nov (thank god).

Here it is. That's Japan to the northeast and the Mariana's due south. Latest jet stream forecasts show jet picking it up and sending it our way. Big question is where the remnants will track and what will be left over of the front moving in on Sat/Sun?

You forgot to say how super fun that was! Thanks for answering the ski descent question before I even had to ask it. -

Vacation lodging in the North Cascades (winter)?
hefeweizen replied to Chad_A's topic in North Cascades
Last winter my wife and I stayed in a cabin in Maple Falls (~15 min from Glacier). The cabin itself is off a right hand turn just after Maple Fuels (coffee shop), behind the liquor store. I know it sounds ghetto but it was really cool. It had a hot tub, they allowed pets, and it's quite private. It also had a full kitchen with utensils and a barbeque. I can't find the website but the office that books the cabins is just before Maple Fuels on your right. I think it was about $125/night. -
Or do this... Sorry, I couldn't resist. Friends of mine who live in the Methow say the preferred method is in fact a snow-mo, or a loooong walk.

PBR specials !!!!! Someone else come to this so I don't have to say "BRAH" a thousand times by myself.

How about "My Humps"- Black Eyed Peas.

Hey Kyle, you and this guy should hang out. It might be super fun!!

I'm sick of people saying, "It's not the heat, it's the humidity." and bumper stickers that read, "Not all who wander are lost." and people who continuously post on this website, "Cool pics" when 8 other people said basically the same thing. and people who write in run-on sentences... But you know what? I like the information and the exchange of ideas so I try not to focus on the nuances of other people that piss me off. The people who write the TR's on this site are doing the rest of us a service by providing information and entertainment, if you don't like how they write then don't read them.

FECKING A!!!!!! I'm tired of this rock monkey sh*t and corn skiing.
-
Check this out. Not sure if that's the same line, if you guys climbed straight to the top you probably were lookers right of the line in Sky's TR. In fact, now that I looked at your topo it is definetly not the same line. Nice job!!

Free your heel and free your mind. Fix the heel and fix the problem. Just kidding Selkirk. I know what you're going through, I was having the same thoughts once. Sure it might seem new and different, but do you really want to intentionally handicap yourself? Be honest, tele skiing is a disadvantaged setup for travelling downhill on snow. Skiing started as teleskiing, and now we have something better. We don't still drive around in model T's because it's harder do we? Seriously though, get after it. Skiing with your wife is great and you're right, it's probably a good way to keep it interesting for you.

Yeah, guess I need to do some exploring. I've tried to link to them before and it just sends you to the homepage. Hmmm...

I did it last weekend. It's in great shape. All the crevasses are easily bypassed or have reasonable bridges. I posted some photos in the "pre-season stoke" thread and a TR on Turns All Year. I'd give you a link but that site wont let you.

Good luck witch your foos-ball, mister coach klein.

A few pics from last Saturday (Baker, Coleman-Deming)...

Keep driving, go to Baker. It's in great shape still. I skied the Coleman-Deming on Saturday (9/15). 4700' vertical of decent corn, ~2.5 miles of hiking in on good trail. Waaay better environs than da Hood this time of year. It's always ski season in WA bishes!

Sorry rumr It's coming whether you like it or not You might as well take your ball and go somewhere that isn't the PNW if wet winters aint your thing. (fixed the link to show the forecast freezing level for next neek)
