    Kids Ropeup

We are coming up from PDX so being able to pitch our tent and stay Friday night would be great. So does the no sugar mean no s'mores for your kids? That's a camping fave/tradition here and would be expected by my three. Would yours feel left out not getting any?

Thanks! Sharing meals sounds great. No diet/allergy restrictions on our end, either. I know that weekend worked for a couple of others so hopefully they'll speak up and any one else who is interested please join in!
  3. Thanks all. He'll be having a hamstring graft.
  4. I was near tears that anyone would torture an adorable, helpless kitten like that when I realized I should check snopes.com. No tears necessary.
  5. Hubby saw the orthopedist today and has to have surgery. He'd hurt his ACL a couple of years ago, but could still do stuff (climb hood, ski, etc) wearing a brace. But he blew out his knee doing a Crossfit boot camp. The one thing the doctor said and made him repeat was no skiing this coming year. Needless to say the kids and I are so bummed. Oh, we'll still buy our passes, but it just won't be the same without him. I know nothing about knees and/or surgery. Is the doc just being cautious or after surgery on your ACL and Meniscus, should you really not ski for 8-12 months? That's the time frame he was given.

How far is Squamish from PDX? Drive time wise, that is. As for what Bug posted and kids are up for, mine (ages 10, 8, 5) have only climbed at Smith. They've been three times and are good for around four hours of climbing time (with playing, exploring and snacking when not tied in) then they're ready to call it a day.

I'm heading out and won't be back until later, but if anyone knows of any other campgrounds just go here and type it in with the dates to see availability.

I just checked the website. Tumwater is booked that weekend, too.

I called the ranger station and they referred me to recreation.gov (1-877-444-6777) and the group sites for Bridge Creek and Eight Mile are booked for the weekend of the 23rd. Those were the two the ranger recommended to me for families. I don't know the names of the other campgrounds.

So we have votes for Leavenworth and Squamish. Any more opinions before I try to put some stuff together. A few dates would be very helpful. Hint. Hint. And I've never been to either place so any info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  12. We also did the Pack-n-Play with both camping and staying in yurts. Was so nice to have a place to put the youngest without worry so much about her!
  13. Best so far has been the Galapagos Islands, but close second is backpacking through Europe for two months.

    atlanta and dallas

I spent time in Dallas last July during a conference. Depending on where you're staying (I was at the Hyatt Regency), there's a light rail system that made it easy to get around. You can also take hummer limos and pay like a taxi. They'll be on call for you all night, too. That was fun to do one night when we were drinking and dancing. Some things to do around where I stayed: West End - This area has a lot of restaurants and has more of a trendy vibe to it than other parts of the downtown area. The Book Depository tour and grassy knoll visit - Definitely worth a visit though you may find yourself crossing over to the conspiracy theorists corner after standing at the window. Neiman Marcus - you can pay a visit to the original NM in downtown Dallas if shopping is your thing. Great shoes but expensive. Saw a gorgeous pair of green sling backs on a sale rack and fell instantly in love with them. Unfortunately, the sale price was $548 so they didn't get to come home with me. I'm not into makeup, but the people who work in the cosmetic section are a total kick and give great freebies. Reunion Tower - they have a restaurant up there that rotates while you eat, but you may just be able to go up there for the view. You can really see just how flat everything is down there. Quite a contract to the PNW. Southfork Ranch - one of the people at the conference toured the place where they filmed the old TV show Dallas. She enjoyed it.

    Dog breeds

I'm sure that Tom secretly hates me... Haha! Okay, maybe a little at the beginning but he thinks you're a great guy after all you've helped me with... cat, project, dog and climbing (hint, hint about the discussed trip!) You definitely get the from the entire family!
  16. Darn, those 4.5 titans would have been perfect from my son.

Great pic, Bill! My kids thought your dogs were so cute, but they kept their distance from them. Chaos has blended right in. She's a great dog, very friendly and loving. Even hubby fell for her and he didn't ever want a dog.
  18. Anyone know if a boy's shoe size is the same as a man's size?
  19. Happy Birthday Off_White! :kisss: Hope you're enjoying it
  20. Congrats Fern! I thought that was you when I checked the rankings after Saturday's round, but wasn't sure. You did great!!!
  21. Happy Fourth of July to those cc.comers this side of the border! Hope you have a great time whatever you're doing 4_8RDNMpASo

So only a couple of people have spoken up about when and where for kids' ropeup. Anyone else have an opinion?
