Mt Hamilton Dec 7, 2013. Shaping up but still too dry...

Mt Hamilton yesterday (Thur 12/5). Temps have been from mid teens to 30 F. We could use a little more moisture to fatten things up...

I'll be home at Beatardia all week/weekend, fill a bucket and/or will post if conditions warrant...

And this ticking thing you speak of... are you counting the traverse as P2 or the crux and slabs as P2? Where exactly should one be wary? Thank you sir. Correct me if I'm wrong, Ivan, but I'm assuming you are referring to THE jug/horn/crux just a few moves above the bolted belay station after the traverse from snag ledge? Most folks consider that the first pitch ends after the traverse. Although technically, the traverse across snag ledge is a pitch. I guess the duct tape holding it in place will only last so long...

I think you haven't read (or didn't care to respond to) my posts on the government shutdown. Still, I do think it's funny how calls from the left for civility and balance only appear when their party is fucking things up. The party of "no"? Hell, when Christie is elected in 2016--and the Dems control one or both chambers of Congress--we'll see who the party of no is. And all these calls for decorum around here will be a thing of the past. And FWIW, at the risk of falling into the same cliche I accused you of tossing out, I will say I don't really care for the Republican Party--particularly certain parts of their social agenda. Rather, I have utter contempt for Democrats and their idiotic solutions to complex problems. With few exceptions, they strike me as populists offering to extinguish the very fires they helped to start. I'll ask you the same thing you asked me: Do you really believe all the crap the Democrat party tries to shove down our throats? Nope, I don't buy the BS either side spews out. I consider myself an independent voter. Our current two party system is corrupt and driven primarily by corporate interest & money (IMO)...

Gotta love when one party bashes the other, yet they have such a narrow and myopic view that they are not willing to look at how f'd up there "own" party is. The R's have really alienated all but the stupidestestesstes and/or stubornestestes of the voting populations. Not that I'm a big fan of the D's either but the party of no, hate and vitriol are pretty much a laughing stock to "most" of us here in reality. Maybe shop around for new homeowners or renters policy and you can probably get a rider for cameras and electronics. Far cheaper than the rip off that is the retail extended warranty. I have USAA for all my insurance and just cashed in on a claim after dropping my camera and case a couple hundred feet at Beacon Rock. I called them, they paid me on the spot via direct deposit and I had a new camera an hour later. I think I pay about $8/year or some such, which is based on the value of the items I have covered... Camera, laptop and jewelry (I don't really have much jewely, cept a custom made retired wedding band made of gold with Denali and the Alaska Range in platinum and my grandmother's diamond ring), if I remember correctly. I got a new laptop a few years back when my kid dumped my laptop and broke the screen. Like any warranty or insurance, be sure to read the fine print!!! Caveat Emptor...
