was out there today - it's up on the case by the trail, but a bigger one on the sign down by the rock would be much more noticable are there cougars at beacon? saw a critter walking down by the river while i was cleaning the brambles out of the base of riverside this afternoon - it had a very feline-like gait and was clearly too big for a bobcat, but from that far away i couldn't be certain it wasn't a dog. someone's re-installed a rap station on tree-ledge too. looking forward to the par-tay There has been a cougar spotting here in NB last summer and also a huge bobcat in our backyard, could be either one. Geoff said they were watching a black bear for a while out at Beacon too.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Wow, it took a .45 to take out that box? Must have some serious kevlar lining or sumpin... Looks like you guys are having to much fun out there.

Very impressive! I can't even fathom it.

What he said. What's this MTV anyway?

This would be completed nicely with the "look what I get to wake up to" hotty in her undies/mullet dude pic from a few months back. Who's got a copy of that gem?

I was thinking of maybe giving Blownout another shot since I got Blownout on it the other day.

Discuss away, but leave out the vicious personal attacks. Oh...and have fun! And I was just going to post another beaver shot on the threat you locked... Nice Beaver.

I will likely be out a few times this week. When are you going to be there?

Beacon Rawk - The Complete Stepphenwolf Experience
denalidave replied to ivan's topic in Oregon Cascades
all 10s at beacon are hard, but these are good'ns that i don't think you've done: - flying swallow (the upper pitch - you can do a piton-ladder on flight time to get there - take local access to get there) - 10a, a1, 10b - blood, sweat n' smears - 10c - flying circus - 10c - stephenwolf to big ledge (okay, the exit move is stupid hard, but otherwise...) - 10c - ground-zero first pitch (blue collar .9, feels muuuuch harder!) - take your aiders and enjoy a specfuk'ntacular long a1 to grassy ledges and feel like you're doing some community service along the way by keeping it clean -wrong gull - 10b/c? - the last pitch of jensens ridge is probably 10a and an awesome setting, the pitch below is a mix of 5.9/A1 and not bad at all if you have a #5 and 2 #4s - i hear tell riverside is awesome, it's 10a i think? pink's got the goods on that one i'd gladly do any of that shit w/ you dave, and there's plenty more left to do that needs to get cleaned (takes fist? upper pitch of flight time?) Thanks Ivan... I still say the last few moves on Steppenwolf is 11-something-ish. At least it felt way harder than 10 on follow. -
I must have money, I still have a whole box of blank checks...

I was wondering how you guys did over there after Geoff and I headed off. I've been wanting to get on some of the more obscure lines at Beacon in the low 10's. You guys got any good suggestions? -
Geoff on YW Saturday. Too bad I just had my cheapo cell phone camera. OK, this was not this weekend but since I'm still psyched about getting the onsight on Windsurfer (when it was like 102 degrees a couple weeks ago) I'll put it up. Thanks for the pics Ryan!

Pik-a-nic on Beacon Rock. Both of girls been hiking all the way to the top since before they were 2 years old. Hangin at the in-law's beach house on the Hood Canal.

Pretty sure the case if for "official business" only but maybe JH can work his magic and get it in there. He was taking Ranger Ben up the corner today. Glad to see someone is working on having good relations with the man. Although I doubt Ivan shares this sentiment... Better to get them out climbing and maybe working for us instead of against us (IMO).

that's not a Jim Nelson "school of going lite" spoon, try cascadehikers.com Must have ditched to lighten the load...

Luckily no, I was just below the green gate and slipped in some loose gravel and went head first and grabbed the railing with both hands as I was doing the "Super Man" flight. Good thing I got a thick skull.

What has worked for me so far, knock on oak, is staying the F#$k out of the stuff. Never had it and I certainly don't want it.
-
I'm there, Sat 7:30 am. Ran the corner today and had the whole place to myself. Then crashed and burned running down the trail. Wished I'd kept my helmet on cause I pinged the railing good with my noggin.

Crackman, not sure if we have met but I can meet you out there Friday am, how about around 8-8:30. I drop my kid off at school in Skamania at 7:45. Geoff/Ivan, I'm down for anytime Sat as the wife and kids are heading out of town. Just let me know when and I will be there. Hardman, my arse. Ready to get out though...

Anyone want to get out at Beacon Friday and/or Saturday? Weather looks perfect. Prefer AM but could do later too.
