[TR] Beacon RaWkS! - The Crack 2 Nowhere AKA Eggz 5.8 C1 10/25/2008

A, he fell! At the crux on Jill's. It was pretty windy, so maybe that was a factor? I was not there when it happened so I don't have much on the details. Maybe he will post up about it? I took a fall from around that same spot last summer and tweaked my ankle too. I remember a mini-pointy ledgy-thingy that could easily be hit in a fall from the crux there, so my first guess would be he hit that. Bummer though. -
I'm sure it's part of the right wing conspiracy to ruin our lives. Or was that the left wing nuts?

We were going to warm up with the first 2 pitches of YW and then do Suf. Breathless and had high hopes of getting on Bluebird again. However, I got a call at the top of pitch 1 on YW from a friend saying he needed help getting his parnter down from Jill's, who had just broke an ankle. We bailed on YW and helped them up to the parking lot and then went back and cleaned all the gear they left on Jill's. Then we did a quick lap on Suf. Breathless and I did it in the finest Ivanesque style... you'd been proud of my hang dog, no holds barred, shamefest. Bluebird was probably not in the cards anyway, given my flail-fest on Suf. Breathless. After that, it was off to the youngins end-o-soccer-season bash for plenty of cupcakes and icecream. I saw Jim's car on the way to the soccer party and was going to stop by and chat on the way home but by the time I came back, around 5:30, all the climber cars were gone. At least the ones I know. Windy as hell out there today but seemed like a lot of folks were getting after it. Just got a call from the party on Jill's and I guess it is not broken afterall, just really bad sprain/dislocation. Sure looked broke. Hope it heals up quickly. -

Saturday was the day as it's nuking out there again today. Fun times though... -
This has always been a pet peeve of mine for many years too. Every time I go to Safeway I am bombarded by very fake, patronizing greetings from every employee. I certainly understand the idea, but when it is so forced and obvious that the employee has to do it, "or esle"... It just seems so phony and fake but that's corporate America for ya.

You might want to get a Costco box of these to go with them. Sthuper Fabulous! sickie

I just sent my mythos to these guys - Yosemite Bum Resol Linky - and they did a great job for a reasonable price. Half soles & rand replaced for $45 but you have to pay for shipping as well. It's best to replace the whole rand vs just patching it as the patch will usually come off again. Might as well get it done right the first time and get a little longer use out of the re-sole job (IMHO).
-
It's not that expensive to have them fixed by a good re-soler. Maybe it's time to resole them anyway?

If they last time you drank beer it was some of the regular crap like Bud, Miller, Coors, etc... You may want to sample a variety of the plentiful micro brews available now. You might find some you like. Of course, beer is an acquired taste for most people.

I was out today and might be able to get out Thur for just a few hours mid day. Just about as windy as I've ever seen it out there today, good times. A helmet sized rock went whizzing right behind Kenny when I was belaying him up Jill's. He did not see it but it was only about 4 ft behind him.

haha... I was just messing around dude. I think YOU are the one that can't take a joke... Although it is hard to catch sarcasm over an internet forum. And FYI, no, my Dad does not chaperone my trips, I don't have a bedtime. And I Plan and fundraise all my own trips/gear, and have a job and skipped a grade in school. Im far more independant that most kids my age. good luck in your partner search. You forgot modest. Happy Birthday...

I guess I'd better get back on Free for Some if it is easier than Windsurfer. I think I got on FFS one time the first summer I started climbing again in 2006 and did not fair well. Still trying to lead Blownout but don't think it will happen this year. Hopefully next summer though. I've heard from quite a few folks that Windsurfer is the easiest 10b at Beacon. Blownout could well be the hardest 10a, the crux at the top feels much more like 10c/d to me, but what the hell do I know? I'm just a wanna-be-posin-sorta-has-been...

Coffee & tequila. Beer, it isn't just for breakfast anymore!

Hey Bug, been wondering if you fell off a cliff of sumpin. Must a been on yer honeymoon? Welcome back.

I was up on Adams today hiking around and was half thinking of trying some of the grubs, just to see what it would be like. I opted for the PBJ instead. Still curious though. Snails are good, albeit a bit gritty. Not sure if they would be good without all the fancy cookin though.

Yeah, quite a bit cooler yesterday compared to Friday. At least it aint raining, yet...

I've yet to get over to Brouton or Rocky Butte but keep telling myself I need to get over and do that Gandolfs whatchamacallit. I hear it is really good over there but it's a bit of a drive for me. How did your Lost Warrior effort go anyway? Or was that you we saw on Big Ledge today?

I bet they were the best tasting millipedes he had in a very long time.

What happened to the army guy Tony somethingerother who was trying to get a Rainier team put together? He had a hard time spelling and made some really long sentences. I wonder if he ever made it up the mt?

Did she look like this? Or like this, with Ernest Borgnine's head attached as she boulders the Yosemite test-piece "Midnight Lightning"? It would be interesting to learn if she's still dating the bragging fellow. Two time all greatest trolls were "Amber", a complete sham who lured in attached, married and otherwise horney dudes and who was offered good times and fun climbing experiences, ultimately exposed for all to see. Then there was "Miss Madrona?" who seemed to be a similar scam for whom the horn-dogs showed out in force: "Duh.....I'd luv t'show ya d'ropes....like, duh, exit thirty-bait...uh, I mean thirty-eight....after school sumtime....uh...U 18 yet?":laf::laf: How about the one with the mullet dude on the bmx bike?

My favorite is still the "look what I get to wake up to". All those pics of the hawtie in her undies morphing into the mullet freako-show. Still laughing my ass off. Wonder who/what he is waking up to now?
