Perfect, 3 for me and a couple for you. I've got a $30 REI gift card that was going to go toward a set of master cams but I think I will get a couple of these instead. -

Couloir to the rescue! Couloir, Couloir, Couloir...

You are right. I have no idea. Remember I have a child that wakes up every 2-4 hours. I dont get alot of sleep either Just beat the hell out of him and give him a few shots of 101 and he'll sleep all night for ya... maybe a bong hit or two to make sure he is nice and calm.

I never said it was wrong.....just that I would not do it. When you call a spanking a beating you are automatically insinuating it is wrong. Even worse, those that do use spankings in an appropriate manner are insulted by you, in essence, calling us child abusers IYO.
-
There is a HUGE difference between a controlled spanking and a "beating". We all know how you feel about it Kevin, but I'd wager you are in the very small minority with your point of view. Spankings are always a last resort in my home but can be a useful tool when needed and it really does hurt me more than my child to give one, at least emotionally.

By the time I got into the pyrotechnics, my parents had longed passed the spanking stage. Once I became a teenager I would readily face Dad's taped & tattered fraternity paddle with youthful defiance. Sure, it stung a bit, but no big deal. Once they found the spankings did no good, it was all "your on restriction". Grounded from this, that and the other. I still remember the day we had soaked a tennis ball or 3 in gas and were throwing it around while it was burning (sure most of you did it too). Right about the time someone kicked over the gallon of gas laying in the middle of the st, someone else kicked the ball right through the 20 ft. puddle of gas. Whoooosh! Huge black cloud & flames, the whole width of the street on fire. Who comes rolling up but good ole Mom & Pops. "You get home right now David..." But I gotta put the fire out... Don't remember what the punishment was but I dreaded going home to find out. Now the pipe bombs in the dumpster, that is a whole other story...

what's a "bruse"? what's "constitue"? :lmao:fuunnie

My dad had was president of his college fraternity and all he had to do most of the time is just get the paddle off the top of the fridge and we would stop whatever bad behavior was going on. I can remember that old paddle vividly, all taped together and the names of all it's frat victims penned on the back of it. Sure, I got plenty of spankings with it and I'm sure I deserved all of them. Overall, my parents loved me as best they could and would still do anything for me or my siblings. Sometimes we need a good ol ass whipping to keep us in line. I'm not sure what to say about this case, as I was not there to see it. But, I would agree that based on KB's prior post about raising kids, it may have been seen much differently in someone else's eyes.

Yes, he freed it on the first try. I, however, took a fall or two on second at the very last crux... Nice lead JH. -

I've running the corner mid week in the evening and a few days I've had the whole place to myself, except for the occasional train, of course. -
Cirque of the Towers trail conditions?
denalidave replied to alpenho's topic in The rest of the US and International.
I used to go there every year and I never actually saw a bear but this was over 10 years ago, maybe the population has grown a lot since then. That said, we were very careful about storing food and cooking away from camp and not so much as a crumb in the tent, toothpaste or anything smelly in the tents. Also, there was a bear resistant food bin at the Cirque, which is likely still there. -
Ethics, dropping gear and micro-fractures
denalidave replied to shaoleung's topic in Rock Climbing Forum
Pretty sure that one is Chad's, who made the last post before you. As as I heard the story, the reason it stuck is because the trigger wire broke. I guess Metolious stepped up to the plate and had a new one to him the next day though. -
No Beer? Is this true, I can't believe it...

I'm to old, and knees are to shot to start to tele now. Certainly never have been cool enough to get initiated into the tele cult. Love my rando set up, although it is heavy. At least it aint snowboarding.

Dude, how many ropes do you currently own?

Ethics, dropping gear and micro-fractures
denalidave replied to shaoleung's topic in Rock Climbing Forum
If I were to drop someone else's gear, I would feel obliged to replace it, or at least offer to replace it. If someone drops my gear, I would let it slide. So far, I have been fortunate enough to only drop my own gear. -

EVOLV SHOE CLOSEOUTS! Amazing prices.
denalidave replied to billcoe's topic in On-Line/Mail-Order Gear Shops
I think I'll take a month long climbing road trip on the $13 profit I'm raking in on my new shoe resale biz. I can prolly get like a gallon of gas and a snicker bar or 3 with that bankroll. Somehow I lucked out and did not get the super ugly orange approach shoes. Hoping the next pair fits so I can get my mythos off to the Bums. -

I alway had Bill Mckinney in Trout Lake do my resoles when he owned Mt. Soles. He sold it about 10 years ago to whoever owns it now and I was planning on sending my Mythos in to Mt. Soles sometime this year for a resole. I think I will send them to this Evolv dude if I like the rubber as much as you do. Sure seemed sticky just handling them out of the package. Great customer service too. Link to e-bay add Evolv Climbing Shoes Size 10.5
